Consumed 8/10/14

Appearance: Copper with some honey and amber highlights - pours with a medium-large head, fades to a solid cap and a nice collar, leaves some streaks and spots of lacing

Smell: Pale malts with some caramel and grassy hops - not necessarily bad, but a rather strange malt profile and hop profile - pale malts, pale grains, something pilsner-like, some raw, yeasty bread dough - above-average sweetness - hops are grassy, with some pine, and lemon zest

Taste: The odd aromas translate to a similarly odd flavor - pale malts, bread dough, light earthiness - floral, flowery hops with some lemon rind and hints of orange marmalade - lightly bitter - sweet in a lightly malty, almost honey-like way, which does not entirely work

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body, nicely carbonated and smooth but finishes with a lemony, earthy strangeness

Overall: At the least, it's better than biting someone's ear off

I bought a four pack of this about a month ago with the assumption that this would be really easy to drink. Unfortunately, that has not been the case. I have been procrastinating reviewing this because I do not have many good things to say. There's nothing particularly offensive about this offering (which would make for a fun review), but it's remarkably bland and average. I would check out other beers from Moat Mountain and skip this one.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Honey color with a weak head. Very nondescript on the nose. Mild hop fruitiness, and a mild bitter finish. Not much in the way of malt, and really no strong flavors I could pull from it. A very average beer with not much originality....AVERAGE.

A.. A nice golden hue. Minimal/no head or lace

S.. A typical pale ale

T.. Great tasting ale. Light hops with a good amount of malt (good for the type of brew). A little sweetness

M.. Easy drinking beer. Minimal carbonation, could be a session beer

O.. Very good pale ale. On tap or in the can it's worth the time
