got this one in the form of a 500mL can.

A: Poured into a tall glass, had a nice golden color and a fluffy, but rapidly vanishing head. the head and slick completely disapears after about 2-3 minutes, leaving just a golden drink that looks like cultured apple juice with a few bubbles in it.

S: it was alright, nothing bad about it, just nothing great. a bit hopsy and sweet smell.

T: it tasted sweet for me, though it was a smooth flavor with hops on the undertone. kind of tasted like clover to me. pretty sweet overal.

M: like the short lasting head, the mouthfeel was pretty thin, though smooth.

D: i'd get it again upon request, didn't mind this one at all, but i'd likely leave it in the can so i don't need to look at it.

Had in bottle at a bar in Croatia, so assumed it was fresh! Poured medium gold into glass with fair head to start, but quickly faded. Grassy dry aroma, reflected in the taste, that I thought a bit thin (in comparison to the other Lasko beer available on tap) though easy to drink, clean and crisp, but nothing special given the name implied more than there usual.

Admittedly, this is a tick and a curiosity; I believe it's my first ever Slovenian beer. Nothing about it indicates it could impress me, but maybe it'll have a surprise for me.

First surprise: it's not a screw cap. Interesting. On a fairly vigorous pour, it actually does form a decently fluffy and craggy pure white head, even reaching near a full finger tall. It does drop quickly, though, leaving some soapy foam on top. The beer itself is a dull, hazy pale yellow. Lacing is left spottily in decent quantity.
The smell is no surprise: it's straight-up sulfur, grains and herb. A light metallic note is there along with it. Some husk is noted and a touch of sweet corn.
In the tastge, the metallic element and grains take over, though the grass and herb are certainly there. Some creamed corn and husk sneak in too. I defini9tely detect the use of Saaz hops, however light.
The feel is crisp in a very light body, and leaning dry rather than slick. It is a little watery leaning into the finish, though there's actually something decent to it into the middle.

Well, I guess there wasn't much to surprise me with this one.

Half-litre can, with that worldly affectation of printing 'Beer' in various languages around the lip...

This beer pours a clear pale straw colour, with one finger of fluffy white head, which leaves a decent panel of lace around the glass as it slinks away. It smells of biscuity, crackery grain, and mild grassy, earthy hops. The taste is mildly sweet barley grain, and floral lea-esque, grassy hops. The carbonation is moderate, the body medium weight, decently smooth for a lager, and yet still adequately crisp. It finishes fairly dry, the musky floral, earthy hops showing up the rest.

An interesting, drinkable take on the broad spectrum of the Euro Pale Lager - the unfortunately expected skunk is practically non-existent, and the hops do something proper hop-like. Huh - who knew?

11.2 ounce bottle. Served in a pilsner glass, the beer pours a clear light gold color with a half-inch white head which went away pretty quickly. Not much head retention either. The aroma is mostly sweet malt with a little bit of grassy hops noticable. The taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like sweet malt, grain, and a bit of hops. It's not exactly good, but then it's not awful either. Mouthfeel/body is light, and it's also a bit crisp and clean. Drinkability is average. I think this is an average beer for the style. I'd drink it if someone gave it to me, but I certainly wouldn't make a point to seek this out either. But if you can find a single bottle of it like I did, then it's worth a try.

This is a really common beer in the former Yugoslavia.

This is a pretty pale lager with a thin bubbly head and lots of carbonation.

The smell is sweet and grainy and slightly roasty. A nice surprise.

I'm disappointed by the flavour here. There is hardly any! It's mostly like fizzy water. There is the same roasty aroma towards the end, but this is still a pretty boring beer.

Exceptional only for its blandness. Poured a pale straw. Some sweet grain in the aroma. A bit thin in body, with mild sweetish-grain notes and a touch of apple juice. Finish was clean, with a bit of a seltzery feel. Not the worst, but had one, now moving on . . . .

Something new on the shelves from Slovenia. Came in a tall 500 ml black can with a golden oval around the label. Best before date on the bottom of can states 18.05.06, so this still seems pretty fresh.

Pours out a bright clear golden colour, massive creamy white head on the pour that settles to a wafer thin cap and leaves lacing. Some small suspended particles can be spotted, loses points for that, not as appealing anymore. A bit grainy on the nose, faint herbal hops, and very faint veggies. Flavour is difficult to pinpoint at first, one sip it is one thing, the next sip brings something else to the forefront. From what I can tell it has a very husky grain profile, some sort of unpleasant cheap adjunct funk going on in the middle to the tune of cooked veggies, and finishes off with an astringent hoppy note, with a boiled cabbage aftertaste. Hope I'm getting a vegetable allocation for my diet from this. The mouthfeel is fair, not too watery, but a little caustic from carbonation in the middle of the sip, and then it does get a little thin on the finish. Drinkability comes down to how motivated I am to finish the other half of my glass of this stuff. Don't think I'll dump it out, but I'm definitely going to nurse the remainder. Will be passing by this one on the shelves next time.

It sort of reminded me of Corona. It had a very pale yellow color with a finger and half of white lace with a little bit of lacing. The smell was grassy and a bit adjunct. The flavor was about the same very grassy with a pasture like aftertaste. I wish I would have a lime or lemon.

Pale yellow pour with minimal head and no lacing. Nose was pure over the top skunky with a hint of sweetness. The sweetness really comes out in the taste. A very typical European lager but perhaps a tad sweeter. Fresh crisp and dry. Would make a great lawn mower beer but not much more than that.

Found this interesting character on the shelves at the Peace Street Market in Raleigh today on my weekly run to the big city. A plastic six pack holder with a sextet of dark bottles labeled with a border of fleur de lis' and a small goat and the founding date 1825! (exclamation point is Lasko's, not mine).

Fairly typical Euro look with a gold color and foamy, temporary head and lots of visible carbonation. Nose is grainy but also noticeably hoppy, not as bad once it settles after the pour, when it gains a fragrant note of fruit.

Taste is full of hoppy bitterness in a pilsner style but the aftertaste turns astringent and slightly metallic. Malt profile could use an upgrade. Mouthfeel is reasonably crisp yet finishes oily and not as clean as expected.

This is not inspiring but different enough and decent for the style. I could see quaffing this on tap in its homeland someday.
