They take beer reservations.

They keep a wide selection of available 1/6th bbl and 1/2 bbl kegs at all times.

I've seen Coors, Sam Adams seasonals, Rouge Hazelnut, Founders BS, Sun King, Chimay, Stella, Goose Island, Upland...

They will special order beer for you if they can find it. Including Kegs.

Brennan and Al are the guys to ask for (as of Fall 2011). They are very knowledgeable.

Kahns (and Crown) are tied for the second largest collection of available beers in Indiana only because they choose not to carry the hundreds of entry level variations of malt liquors that PartiPak does.

Quality over Quantity.

Great selections of beers here with many quality events and tastings. I appreciate their efforts on social media, announcing new arrivals and restocks. One complaint is that they seem to hold things back for favorite customers at the expense of others. I rushed over once after they announced on twitter the arrival of a special release. I was there in about 45 minutes but was told I missed it by 15 minutes (no problem). Frustratingly, 2 guys walked in 10 minutes later and each received 2 bottles out of the back. Guess I didn't know the secret handshake.

Personally I don't use BA very much, but I do like good beer. Kahn's without a doubt is the best beer/wine store I have found in Indiana in the 12 plus years I have lived here. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I recently attending their GI Bourbon County release and even though the turnout was much higher that expected, and the supply of beer was down, they did a wonderful job of meeting the needs of the vast majority of people that made the journey. Kudos to Jim, Al, Will, Paul and the rest for pulling this off.

I will go better than best store in Indy this may be the best store in the state.

As others have said or atleast im guessing they have, if Indiana gets it Kahn's is gonna have it.
If its a very limited release your best chance at getting it is probably gonna be here.

The Staff is great all very friendly and some of the most craft beer, wine, and spirit educated people you are gonna find here..build a relationship with these guys and you wont regret it! and you may get a nice surprise every now and then!

Best beer store I've been to in Indy.

Selection is great. From local micro to global imports, a very wide selection. If it is available in Indiana, these guys are getting it.

Nice and clean. Very large selection, not only of beer, but also wine, liquor, cheese, etc.

Wine and beer tasting available on certain days.

A small cracker, relish, and cheese selection. Not a restaurant.

There are knowledgable employees waiting to answer your questions or help you find something. The guys patrolling the beer section are constantly, and I mean that literally, re-stocking every beer they have. They know when beers are due for release, what's new and just in, and will have several great suggestions based on your preferences.

If you are in the Indy area and looking for good beer, this should be your first stop.

Kahn's is great. Nice big store with great lighting and a wide varity of craft beers. Al keeps the selection nicely currated. They do a great job of letting beer nerds know when something exciting is coming in and if they sell out (which the tend to do quickly on excellent stuff).

They organize beer tastings throughout the year that are fun and educational. These usually include a raffle with the opportunity to buy some had to find beers.

Great people, great selection...happy to spend my money here.

A: Nice set up. Everything is clean and arranged in an orderly fashion.

Q: What should be fresh is, selection is constantly rotating/selling.

S: There is always someone asking if you need help or have questions. Beer Manager is a very good dude and a craft beer coinsurer himself.

S: Very diverse selection of local, national, and international craft beers. Everything that is worth getting that comes in to Indiana they have.

F: There is a side area that sells cheeses, crackers, and items of that sort, but no restaurant on site.

V: Kahn's prices are generally a dollar or two more than every other place in town. Selection is great though so they will get my business.

Aside from wine/liquor, Kahn's has the best craft beer selection in the city, hands down. Friendly and knowledgable staff. Clean spacious environment. They also do a great job on Facebook with updates as they get new items in stock.

A definite stop, when in town.

Pretty much the mecca for any craft beer fans coming to Indy. Selection cannot be beat, period. Beer to left, entire wall of coolers, a center *specials* isle and the one long shelf facing coolers. Always very clean and well-faced. Don't have to worry about any stale IPA's as they move at this location. Staff is always friendly and helpful and the beer manager is the best in the area, bar none. Some things are a bit more pricey than other stores but you are paying for quality here, and it is a price I don't mind paying at all.

Check their twitter to stay current with what is hot and fresh.

Make sure to look into Beerocracy events, their tastings are top notch and rare/limited bottles are usually available at the Beerocracy tastings via raffle.

Good selection of glassware, a limited amount of gourmet food for any last second tasting needs, huge wine selection, well stocked and rounded spirits selections....in other words you can't go wrong here.

If you stop at only one place in Indy area, make sure it is this one.

Kahn's Keystone gets a full FIVE yellow lightsabers from me....do not miss or Yoda will cry.

While there are one or two others that may come close, this is THE best store in the state for craft beer. Their selection is comprised of all of the midwest regulars, as well as whatever limited release(s) may be in season, and a very large selection of international brews. Where Kahn's really shines is their knowledge and expertise on the products they stock (and craft beer in general). Al possesses a fantastic knowledge of all things beer, and is glad to help any customer that sets foot in the beer aisle. The prices are on the higher end of the "normal range" when compared to other stores around the city, but the difference is negligible when you factor in the great service/conversation to be had here. Stop in, chat with Al, leave with beer. You'll be glad you did.

Kahn's on Keystone is my go-to liquor store, and is the first place I will take out of town friends who want to check out my favorite liquor store. It's a pretty large place and in my opinion is the best liquor store in the state, of the ones that I have been to. They have a huge selection of wine and liquor, and the craft beer selection is top notch. They have a lot of the hard to find brews, they are loyal to the local breweries and carry all of them (including Great Crescent which I haven't seen many other places). They also have a good amount of imported craft beers with a cool selection of Belgians and stuff. The beer managers are super knowledgeable and love to talk beer and give recommendations. After a few trips in, they will inevitably remember your name and will make it a point to speak with you and recommend cool new things. The prices aren't terrible, somethings are a little higher, somethings are a little lower, but nothing to lose sleep over.

Stopped here on saturday while in town to pick up some sour upland fruit lambic goodness!

Atmosphere/Quality: Its a large aluminium farm building with a nice store on the inside. People are friendly and greet you as you walk into the door. Clean, well lit and organized.

Service: All I gotta say is that I met Al on BA from a beer thread that I posted about local Indiana beer. He said he would take care of me! He was a great guy to meet and an awesome BA. We talked for a while and made some fantastic beer reccommendations from his beer stock that for the most part sounds like he has hand picked. Not only that, but he shared a few really nice beers and tasted them out with us while we talked and beer shopped. Al is probably the reason this beer section is what it is. Ask for Al hes a wealth of beer knowledge, good guy and a great BA!

Selection: Great locals present and accounted for. A 3 or 4 level shelf that almost streaches the entire store length that has many great craft beer from all over the world. Its well organized by beer region and he has tags on some ber to denote a sour beer, just encase that's you thing or not it will be easy to differentiate between the beers.

Value: Prices seem to be fair here and nothing seemed to be that far from out of line on the price tags. Nice value for your money.

Bottom line stop at this store come and see Al if you need any help with any beer questions. It a top notch beer store, I was impressed! Thanks again Al.

Kahan's appears to be a small warehouse on the inside. Beer is all situated on the left side of the store in one aisle. Coolers on the left side of the aisle and bottled beers on the shelf across from it. Nice selection of locals (Upland, SunKing), regionals (FFF, BBC), and others (was surprised to find both Pretty Things and Sixpoint) as well as varied selection of Belgians.
Can't comment on service as no one helped me (or attempted to help me) despite the fact I was one of only two people in the store at the time.
Prices seemed appropriate for the area. Three Floyd's was the same price as in Chicago. SunKing was $11 for a four pack, but since I have nothing to compare it to, I couldn't say if that is good or not.

Stopped in here as my one and only bottle shop stop I had time for... I couldn't have picked a better place.

Al, the beer guy, was great. Really friendly an helpful, taking time to show me lots of various things that I walked passed because I was oblivious to what they were....
Lots of various vintage beers, especially of euro-imports (of which there are lots!).
I hit up liquor stores whenever I'm traveling, in many different states, and this place had at least 15 beer's I had to look up on BA to even know what they were!

The beer is all along the left side of the shop. There's tons of craft in the coolers, and plenty of bottles on the shelves as well. Every brewery I've ever seen in IN is represented here, with several I haven't seen before, and many Belgian imports I'd never even seen anywhere.

The beer is kept well-organized and properly faced to make selection easy-- I know this is a minor point, but it goes to the credit of the employees.

I didn't shop the prices too hard, but from the beers I saw, the prices probably averaged out to what I'm used to seeing. Some were a couple bucks more than back in IL, and others were less.

Overall-- ale this your "can't miss" stop if you're reveling trough Indy... I know it will be mine!

I was in town for work, and scoped out a few places to pick up some beer I can't get in my home state. I hit Crown, then went here to Kahn's. Great experience - I ended up chatting with the two guys working about beer for a good 30 minutes while making some selections. The have tons of Three Floyds, Bells, Founders, all of which is why I came, specifically the Three Floyds. They even had something in the back not displayed (one left) that they brought out for me. Overall a great experience. Also note that they move a lot of beer here, and the assured me the Three Floyds for example was fresh. I didn't have the same experience elsewhere.

I can't comment really on prices since I don't live in the area.

This place was a blast for me to go to they have a limited number of American craft beers but a very extensive collection of foreign craft beer and Belgians galore. They have some beer in the back that was claimed by employee's that sometimes forget it or end up not getting it ( i got a 6 pack of Gumball head like this...score). I also was helped a great deal with the employees who were very informative and knowledgeable. The lot who were there when i went all seem to be true beer heads.

Overall I will visit this place again.

PS they have some devecent signature glass ware on top of the beer fridge.

I stopped in Kahn's passing through Indy this past weekend, and I was pretty impressed. They have a big selection of American craft, import craft and macro beers in general. The beer was on the left side of the store, as they also sell wine and spirits there. They had beer stored both on shelves and in coolers. Everyone I talked to on the staff was nice and all asked if I had any questions and were all willing to help. When I was checking out I remembered there was one beer I was looking for and didn't see it in the coolers so I asked if they had any available. I don't know who it was that I talked to there, but they remembered that they just got a shipment in from their distributor earlier that day and went in the back to check, and grabbed me a 6-pack when he found out it was one of the beers they just received. The prices all seemed fair to me, and the craft selection was impressive as I found a lot of brews I was looking for and some interesting ones I had never seen before. I'll definitely stop back in the next time I'm in the area.

Kahn's off Keystone IMO is the best place in the state as far as selection. They have, and get, everything. Prices can be a bit high on certain items, but can also be low on others. I've had it both ways as far as service. I had one guy that worked there that truly seemed annoyed with my questions, but I got into a 10 minute conversation with another employee and I truly enjoyed that visit. That being said, it's still top notch as far as the knowledge that they have on every beer. Unfortunately, I can't go in there every week. But, it is the place to go to find the things that you can't find anywhere else.

I live within 5 minutes of Kahn's, and I try to hit it relatively frequently. Great atmosphere for anyone interested In good wine, liquor, or beer. Unbelievable selection, particularly of the former two. It's a pole barn, but classy on the inside. Staff is knowledgeable and usually Very willing to answer questions and help out. Their selection is good, with many foreign beers lining the shelves.

They tend tonget many limited release beers as well, but there's the trick: they don't always shelve them. You have to know they're there, and ask for them specifically. Other limiteds, though, they'll put on the shelves a couple at a time, with a one bottle limit. Some consistency would be nice there.

I came into this place because not only one person gave me insight that they had an awesome beer selection, but at the Brugge Brasserie, Noah told me two of their beer managers would help me out greatly! He was correct.

Atmosphere is easy going, nothing too special when it comes to the place for beer. They had a HUGE wine and spirit selection (Hence Fine Wine's & Spirits). Easy to navigate around, even elevator music playing? All of the employees wore red aprons as if they were chefs or something. Very interesting.

They were definitely organized. They had each beer sectioned off by Country (Belgium, Germany, US, and others) and everything was priced accordingly to the bottle or 6 pack.

Right when walking in, two gentlemen asked if we needed help. I replied, "Yes, is Brennan around?" and it was him. Too funny. He helped tremendously and went through all of the Saisons, Sours, and Breweries we were trying to get our hands on. We must have been there for over half an hour and he stayed with us the entire time! Great service!

Selection was good as well. A bit pricey here and there but they also had over 20 boxes of beer that was all discounted inbetween the Bomber section and the coolers. For 4 bottles, the total was over $50 and knew this before I purchased but still...

Will be back if around IN!

I was able to stop at Kahn's on the way back to Arizona and it made the vacation, after a series of bad setbacks. The location is about 5 minutes off of one of the major highways. The staff (thanks Al!) was helpful and had great beer knowledge. The selection was pretty broad and had quite a few things I hadn't seen at other places. Sun King, 3 Floyds, Thirsty Dog, and more were represented. The prices were just a bit higher than other places, but not unusually so when considering some of the selections. I highly recommend that it be a stop if you are passing through.

Definitely one of the highlights of my Indy trip in regards to bottle shops.
Not just for beer obviously, but a sizeable selection of everything alcohol. On the far left, the wall is lined with coolers with lots of local, distributed, and imported beer all staying cold within their doors. I ended up finding alot of things I cannot find by me with not exactly cheap prices, but nothing out of the ordinary for a specialty liquor store like this one.
Overall, a fantastic place to grab some great beer that has a great selection. A must stop.

I'd been wanting to visit this place since moving to Indy last month, and after seeing its high rating on BA.

My initial thought as I walked through the front door was "where's the beer?". A significant amount of floorspace is devoted to wine, which is understandable given the name of the store. Rest assured, though, that you will find a treasure trove of crafts and imports at Kahn's. The beer aisle consists of coolers along the left wall, boxes of high-end limited edition/seasonals, etc. down the middle of the aisle, and a long shelving unit down the right side.

The selection in the cooler went in approximately this order: American macro lagers, craft 6'ers, craft bombers, mix-a-six, & imports. The long shelf on the opposite side of the aisle held a wide range of single import & craft bottles. One minor difficulty I found was that bottles were grouped by brewer rather than by style. I was trying to look for some interesting sours that I'd never tried, but it was a little bit of a challenge finding them. The quality of brands, though, was quite impressive.

The highlight of my visit was being offered a bottle of a very rare brand by one of the store clerks. We were discussing one of my favorite beer styles, and I asked him if they had anything new or interesting. Surprisingly, he mentioned that they had a limited number of bottles of a highly-coveted brand left, and said he'd grab one for me. One or two other BA reviews of Kahn's mentioned the staff being stand-offish or unfriendly. My experience there was the exact opposite. The staff approached me three times during my 20 minute visit, asking if I needed any assistance.

I was 100% pleased with my experience, and will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

This place is like a Costco for alcohol. And while it specializes in wines and has a breathtaking selection of those, Kahn's also has one of the most impressive beer selections I've ever seen.

They seem to specialize in foreign bottles as individuals, and while they tend to be a bit on the high side in price I believe it's worth it. I'm not even certain of where they get that kind of selection.

They have all the bases covered for domestic breweries, and I like to stop in periodically to see what they have in that's a bit off the beaten track. They usually don't disappoint.

My only knock is they'll occasionally overprice some beers knowing they'll probably sell them because supply in the area fluctuates. Three Floyds is a great example. I'll see bottles at Kahn's that are 10 to 25 percent higher in price than other places.

But on the whole, I couldn't recommend this place more highly.
