found @ oak tree buy rite (plainfield nj)
big fluffy off white head crests @ a good 2 fingers, bubbles are large near the top and compacted closer to the actual brew... I'll have to let this sit for a few minutes before tasting or I will have foam all over my nose. this one is slightly hazy caramel in hue with the carbonation very hard to make out in the glass, the bubbles are microscopic. the retention is great and this is super sticky, lacing is all over the sides of the glasses in webs. this has the type of head where you can reach in and grab a bunch of it with your bare hand.. scooping it out and flinging it on to the wall (splorch!).
some pine, hop florals, a faint sweetness from the malt, mostly the hop dominates here... but not overpowering considering this is a DIPA... pretty average for the style, it doesn't smell huge or big imo.
very bitter up front (the only way this seems to be in the DIPA category), the bitterness is fighting with the malt in your mouth and it wins out ultimately in the finish, pretty one dimensional.. and not crazy bitter like some DIPAs. The mouthfeel is somewhat slick and resiny.. sort of medium bodied carried by the carbonation (which is substantial but not distracting)
not bad, not great.. interesting to line this up and taste it against other DIPAs to maybe garner the subtleties. Not too huge or big and enough bitter kick to satisfy a hop head like me.

12oz bottle poured into traditional pint
Pours a hazy rust color with a thin, delicate, cream colored collar of foam.
Mild herbal, citrus-fruit nose.
This is where it got me. It was maltier than, and not as hop-forward, as expected. A bit of honey with all the citrus characteristic that I had smelled earlier, but the malt had mellowed this into an easy drinker.
It felt smooth on the tongue with the slight bubbly finish(surprising due to the lack of initial head)
Not just "good for what it is", it's just plain good.
