22 oz. bomber poured into a 16 oz pint glass (November 19, 2009).
Eyes: Dark than most other DIPAs. Very ruddy, but not hazy, good head, with good retention.
Nose: Sharp hops, potent but not ridiculous. Citrus/grapefruit overtones, ends very sweet.
Tongue: Taste is surprisingly similar to the aroma, which isn't all tha common with IPAs & especially DIPAs. The alcohol does not punches through despite 8.5% ABV. A solid clean hoppy punch with just enough malt sweetness to give some complexity.
Mouth: Light for the style, nice and clean.
Libation: People often use the term "balance" when they describe DIPAs, my definition of the term means just enough malt backbone to support the hop presence, not necessarily an even amount of both. This brew certainly does this very well; the hoppy bitterness is well supported by the malt spine, but does not detract from the hop onslaught. A very nice offering, I will be trying this again, especially when the price was just a few dollars for a bomber.

Pours a huge, dense, off-white head that has a lot of persistence. Citrus-pine aroma; not bright and floral, but rich and robust. Amber-sienna color. Starts bitter with a citrus backing. Moves into a bright green hoppiness, with the sweet malt combining to make a slightly sweet presence. Peaks in a medium-high bitterness. In the finish, it's citrusy hops with the malt starting to come through, again.
Not bad at all. I generally am a floral/aromatic hop guy, but this is still very enjoyable for me.
