WTF!!! Couldn't get the 22oz into my 30oz mug thanks to the huge pale tan creamy head. I'm still waiting for it to subside, but it is very well retained and it looks like it will be a couple more minutes before i get it all into my glass. Slightly hazy, and quite dark for an IIPA, with its pale chestnut body. Big sticky gobs of lace cling to the sides of the mug
Orange, pine, bready malts, and a slight hint of diacetyl.
An interesting brew, floral and citrus (mostly orange) hops with a woody, bitter bite struggle to assert themselves above the solid malt backbone. Bready with a touch of toffee, and slight hints of diacetyl and an earthy mustiness from the yeast.
Medium bodied, well balanced, almost too well balanced for an IIPA. A touch of alcohol to remind the drinker to take it easy while drinking this otherwise smooth and almost creamy ale.
This is pretty drinkable. Hop bitterness, while present, never reaches the stripping and biting level that could impact drinkability for all but the most devout hopheads. I'm not sure when this was brewed, it was purchased a few months ago, perhaps some of the hop character has not handled time well. After looking at the website and seeing that this was brewed to 76 IBUs im not too surprised.
In fact I've had more than a few single IPAs that were much hoppier than this brew. While not loaded up with IBUs this is a tasty beer, just not what i was expecting from somehting labelled as an IIPA. If this were labelled a Strong Ale I would have probably scored it slightly higher. This is a good beer, and one that I would recommend trying, remembering that at least at this point, this is no hop bomb.

12oz bottle poured into traditional pint
Pours a hazy rust color with a thin, delicate, cream colored collar of foam.
Mild herbal, citrus-fruit nose.
This is where it got me. It was maltier than, and not as hop-forward, as expected. A bit of honey with all the citrus characteristic that I had smelled earlier, but the malt had mellowed this into an easy drinker.
It felt smooth on the tongue with the slight bubbly finish(surprising due to the lack of initial head)
Not just "good for what it is", it's just plain good.
