Opens with a very decent 'pop/hiss'.
Jesus! A very easy pour just gave me a massive head of more than four-fingers worth of craggy, milk chocolate colored foam. Retention is great and the lacing thick, clumpy, and quite sticky. This sitting on top of a very dark brown liquid.
I'm definitely getting a good amount of cocoa in the smell. Nice presence of milk chocolate, also. Good notes of ground coffee. Brown sugars and a touch of dark fruits. Very light hint of alcohol.
This is like a good cup of chocolate coffee. The slightly heavy-handed presence of dark roasted coffee dominates. It's followed, very closely, by sweet milk chocolate and cocoa powder notes. Nice lactose sweetness. Mild notes of vanilla. A slight touch of oakiness.
Good, solid, medium bodied beer. Sadly, I think that it should/could be so much more. It's very smooth and has a nice creaminess to it. It could just be so much better with some more body.
I'd probably drink this one again, if given the chance. I won't go out of my way to track it down, though. More of a dessert beer than anything.

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served an almost pitch black color with tiny of tan colored head. The heads fades almost instantly leaving only a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is huge of a sweet cocoa and milk chocolate smell. Along with these aromas are some notes of roasted malt as well as notes of cream, vanilla, and caramel mixed within. Overall quite chocolaty and delicious.
Taste – The taste begins of a semi-sweet chocolate and roasted malt flavor mixed with a cocoa powder taste. As the flavor moves forward, more sweet chocolate comes to the tongue with it being joined by vanilla and caramel flavors as well. A milkier like flavor grows in the taste with some hints of darker fruits as well. The darker fruits are mainly of a raisin and plum giving a nice balance to the chocolate flavors of the brew. In the end, with a light earthy flavor also coming to the tongue, and with the big dose of sweet chocolate and the lighter darker fruits flavors of the brew, one is left with a pleasant fruit chocolate bar flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower side. The lower carbonation is fantastic for the chocolaty flavors of the brew although a bit thicker of a body would have likely been more appropriate for the style. Overall the mouthfeel is rather decent.
Overall – A rather tasty chocolaty brew with some nice big flavors. Sweet and delicious!

Appearance is very dark brown with a short, tan head and some light lacing.
Nose has plenty of lactose--sweat cream. It also has chicory, black licorice, a fruity dark chocolate, and almond.
Taste has alcohol up front that fades. It is buttery, with almond milk, Hershey's chocolate, and bitter dried cherry.
Mouthfeel is dry and smooth. with light carbonation. Very pleasing, soft and creamy finish with a light, butter slickness.
This is a well-made beer. The mouthfeel alone makes it worth a try.

poured onto a 16 oz tumbler - only slight head with virtually little retension. mild aroma with a decent first taste but a rather musty aftertaste. Not as heavy or as flavorful as you would expect a full body stout to be. weak on flavor. does;t compare w/ most stouts on the market today - will not buy again.
