on tap at devils den in philly
Pours a hazed copper color with a pretty thick beige head resting on top. Retains nicely leaving some patchy lacing on the glass.
Hoppy and piny in the nose with some sticky resin. Touches of citrus peel and some bready malted sweetness. Hints of caramel with some alcohol heat.
Bitter and piny up front with a touch of abrasiveness. Orange and grapefruit citrus flavor in the middle. The malt backbone is fairly thick with some bread and caramel. Decent amount of sweetness towards the finish with lingering alcohol heat.
Medium body, decent carbonation, sticky and lingering on the tongue. An alright DIPA but not super balanced and easily lost in the crowd.

Appearance: Cloudy light copper
Smell: Mostly grapefruit and a bit piney
Taste: A very sweet caramel flavor, almost towards butterscotch. The there is a tangerine/grapefruit/citrus taste that follows the sweet caramel. More malt than hop.
Mouthfeel: A sticky and thick-ish mouthfeel. The beer coats the mouth and hangs around.
Overall: I enjoyed the beer but it took a bit to get used to the taste. The 9% is well masked by the flavor. This is a beer to be drank by itself or paired, rather than an everyday beer.

This dipa pours a cloudy brownish copper color with a small, short lived off white head that leaves decent lacing. The aroma is rather sweet and malty for the style with pine and herbacious hops merely supporting the maltiness. The mouthfeel is sticky and coats the palate almost a little too much. Flavors are malt driven and seem closer to a Brandywine than a dipa. The hops are present but not in their bitter gloriousness like I had expected. There is no date on the bottle but I am guessing that this was not super fresh. Would like to try a fresher bottle because, if hopmouth is any indication of Arcadia s abilities with hops, this should be much better.
