Nice amber appearance with a small white head. Smell is a good blend of hops and malts, more malt than I expected. Reminds me of a nice English ale. Taste is just the same, a nice English ale but with an American hop bite. The malts hold more presence over the hops. Overall a good beer and a great blend of two styles of beer.
Cheers.

Bottle to tulip. Looks good; a deep, opaque burnt-orange. Smells good too; floral and citrus. Taste is decent, but not anything special. Could be an old bottle though. Pretty bitter, and not in the most pleasant way. Mouthfeel suffers from the bitterness on the palate too. Overall, pretty overpriced for what it is (which usually isn't the case with Arcadia).

Nose: Boozy. A little fruit. No real hops to speak of in this one. The rocket seems empty.

Appearance: Hazy honey-orange with a small, but persistent, cream-colored head.

Taste: Mostly sweet. But the hops come in toward the end. Earthy and peppery. Pleasant and mild. Not unique, but not a common tasting beer. Nice and juicy, but the sweetness and hot gums from the alcohol keep this from being better.

Overall: Pretty good as a beer. Not great as a Double IPA.

Golden amber color with a sticky white head. Lots of tiny bubbles float to the top. It's a good looking beer. The smell is dominated by citrus hops (mainly orange), with a faint malty caramel background. I do pick up a peppery smell as well. The bitterness from the citrus hops is well-balanced with the caramel malt. At 9%, the alcohol is well-hidden. The body is rather heavy and well carbonated. Overall, this one ranks just below other Michigan DIPAs like Hopslam and Double Trouble. I was turned off by the $15 per 4 pack price, but it was worth getting a single of it.

Date on bottle says 1/29/13

A - Poured a nice 2 finger white head with a crystal clear light golden amber body. Appears well carbonated.

S - Nice and balance hop malt aroma. Hops are earthy, mango, citrus, a slight pungent hop aroma of simco, this is balanced with malty sweetness of caramel. Very pleasant to smell.

T - Lots of hops right up front of pungent dank hops, lemon rind, a floral flavor, slight mango, additional malt sweetness to balance this one out. Not as citrusy as the smell was. The heat can be felt on the back of the throat.

M - This is a full bodied fluffy soft feeling chewy brew. Very nice but the hop bitterness is agressive on the palate and you will notice after a while. High carbonation balance this creamy fluffy mouth of this.

O - This is a great beer to have once in a while, and is a definite unique brew; every hop head should seek this one out. It is pricey but has some stand out qualities. Not my favorite hops, but still delivers a massive amount of hops. Try one and see what you think. Cheers!

Poured this 12oz. bottle into a pint glass. Had no bottled on or bb date on the bottle. Has some notches on the side of the bottle but don't know how that reads.

A- The brew pours a nice amber color that is almost on the verge of brown. A nice small half inch of head that is light tan in color. Goes away very quickly, but the glass was cold so maybe this had something to do with it. Opaque, impossible to see through, on the pack it says bottle conditioned so thats a good sign.

S- Loud and bright bitter hops, resin sticks to the nose. Strong. Grapefruit and orange, a light citrus rounds the smell out. A slight grain smell is noticeable and is like a rye bread or sourdough. I let it warm for a few minutes... still overwhelming hops.

T- Bitter hops right upfront. A coppery almost metallic taste that reminds me of the Mojo Risin' DIPA from Boulder brewing; not as bad though. I get a bit of citrus and more malt than i did in the smell. Much better! it seems to round out a lot as it warms a bit. Alcohol is noticeable but seems to be right in line with a 9% ABV.

M&D- A full flavored brew. Has a lot of texture to it and goes down solid. An overall dry finish but it has a wet like appeal to it initially. You can feel the alcohol burn as it goes down, especially as it gets a little warmer. Carbonation gives it an amazing bite that hit the back of the throat hard.

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass. The beer is a cloudy amber color, but seems to clear up after a while. Sizable, bone-white head which fades pretty quickly. This brew leaves behind no shortage of beautiful lacing as you drink.

Nose does not disappoint the hoppy expectations. Strong influence of candied pineapple and citrus. To smell this beer is really a treat. No sign of alcohol, just sweet, delicious fruit.

There is a lot of hop flavor packed into this brew for sure. Pine resin up front; then apple and very sweet candied pineapple... for a second in the middle, you almost forget that you are drinking a beer. The fruit flavors just that powerful... but before you have time to make yourself at home, it punches you in the face with delicious bitterness again. The finish is crazy bitter and dry and stays on your tongue forever! In short, it's everything you would expect from a beer with a moniker like this. No sign of malt in the flavor. The extreme dryness and bitterness hurt the drinkability, but the mouthfeel is smooth and light, which helps it go down.

Can I be real for one second? I mean, really real? This might be the most bitter beer I've ever tasted. I actually love Arcadia's DIPAs. Hopmouth is also amazing...maybe a little better than this one. IMO, I think it's what they do best. I would have this beer again, but I don't know if I would necessarily seek it out. It's great if you're looking for a hop fix, though, that's for sure.

An acrid snap of citrus tang jumps out at first sniff. That, along with a bite of alcohol edge, get's a softened by honey & caramel malt characteristics.
A grapefruitish hop sting hits the tastebuds first and burst in the mouth. Then, like with what happened in the aromas, a sweet honey butter flavor smooths overs the bite and hides the +9% abv pretty good. It's finishes with a mango sweetness & lemon tartness that sticks around for a little along with something just little bit peppery too. Interesting contrasts and medium carbonation make for this to be a little easier of drinker than a lot of the hop bombs out there.
