Color: sits a clear golden brown

Smell: not sure about the hops used - dont seem to be the familiar Cascade variety. combo of what seems to be pineapple, coconut and vanilla (?).

Taste: a slight bitterness to the aforementioned "ingredients". little yeast and bitterness in the finish

Mouthfeel: med body. low carbonation

Notes: not what i was expecting. im not sure i like it too much. perhaps it will grow on me sometime in the future. just not as hoppy/bitter as i expected

12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

slightly cloudy amber with a thin layer of off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves little lace.

aroma is surprisingly sweet. caramel and honey malts are prominent, with a rounded, lovely backing of citrusy, grapefruity hops.

taste starts with some balance; caramel malts, citrus rinds, grapefruit and pine hops; finish is dominated by piney, oily hops. feel is moderate for the style, which helps the drinkability, but the stiffly bitter finish sticks to the teeth and is a bit harsh. i'm still smelling the empty glass for the aroma, but the hop flavors are just a bit too assertive.

This is the fourth Arcadia beer I have tried. So far, the best one I have had was their Pumpkin Ale. This is another IPA from them, and possibly the least English tasting of all their beers I have had. Here is my review:

A: Pours a hazy, golden amber. Head is pretty small but lacing is decent.

S/T: The aroma is very bittersweet. Lots of grapefruit hops. Taste is much hoppier than their Hopmouth DIPA. Lots of grapefruit and malty sweetness. There is also an armpit like character in there, which is slightly offensive. This tastes a lot like the Mendicino Imperial IPA, but with a fuller flavor. A far cry from Founders Double Trouble or Bells Hopslam, but easily the best beer I have had from Arcadia.

M/D: Mouthfeel is medium bodied. It leaves a juicy feeling in your mouth. Drinks very well. Probably could drink a couple in a row.

Arcadia has been pretty unimpressive so far, but this is the best I have had from them yet. Nothing outstanding, but still a solid IPA. I am impressed how different this is from their other DIPA, Hopmouth. Worth checking out.

A: Served in a nice stemmed glass with the Arcadia logo. It formed a decent head that it maintained throughout. It was a coppery gold color.

S: The aroma was fresh fresh fresh - hops, pine, citrus, fruit - just a load of aroma.

T: Similar to the smell, like grass, fruit, and it even tasted like you think hops should taste. The alcohol was hiding, but the flavors lingered like crazy.

M: Warm, very little carbonation, as you'd expect when it's on cask, but very smooth. Quite nice.

D: A good balance between serious flavor but easy drinking. The alcohol would eventually catch up to you, but it was a nice brew.

Pours a light orangey brown with about a half inch of head. The head dissapaes quickly leaving a light residue around the rim of the glass. The aroma us overwhelmingly hoppy with little else evident other than the nose smashing hoppiness. The taste is very boozey with a crude ultra-sweet taste that is quickly tossed to the rear by the massive hop bitterness. The initial sweetness is somewhat hard to get past and doesn't improve the beer at all. Some DIPA's are balanced, this seems like t tries to be more balanced, but instead has warrinf parts malt and hops.

Served on tap at Ron's in Exton

A hazy orange color, a creamy white head that was maybe one inch thick.

Citrus hops dominate the nose - orange and grapefruit with some pine notes. There is a toasty malt accent in the background as well

The citrus hops burst out in the flavor. Some pine as well. The malt is present, not over-dominated by the hops, which is good.

A bit oily textured, a nice amount of carbonation. The finish is
dry and crisp with a strong hop note.

I am not a huge hop fan, but I liked this a lot.

A - Pours a dark opaque amber. Not too much visible carbonation, half a finger of white head, fairly creamy, and the head fades to a thin layer almost immediately.

S - Mostly malts, some hints of booze. Sweet malts, I read butter in another review, that is definitely in there (couldn't quite place the smell), maybe even hints of leather and some sour yeasts (though I know it doesn't have any). No hops or bitterness at all.

T - Meh. Following with the aroma, not much hops if at all. Very sweet and malty. Not too much alcohol noticeable. Cherry is a flavor that's dominant along with the sweet malts. Not really liking this too much... Peaches, that's what this tastes like. It tastes like a Fuzzy Navel (mixed drink, Orange Juice and Peach Schnapps). The flavor is that of a Fuzzy Navel with some caramel malts brewed into it. No hops, just malt.

M - Medium body, low carbonation, sticky sweet mouthfeel. Finish is cloyingly sweet with a long lingering peach flavor.

O - I have no idea how old this bottle is, I would hope that it isn't fresh because if so, they need to put more hops in for it to even be a Pale Ale. It almost tastes like an IPA that they just forgot to add hops to at all (in the boil and dry-hopping).

Arcadia Hop Rocket - the label doesn't indicate ABV or style, and the label notching is cryptic - you can't tell what G-3 means whether it was born in 2007 or 2009. Boo hiss.

This brew poured dark golden, cloudy, like ice tea. There wasn't much head but it showed a little lacing. The aroma was a knockout. Citrus (grapefruit)- yes, strong and good, WOW. Apricot flavor notes.

The taste first struck me as complex and delicious. Hope dominate, it was musky, sweet, seemingly well balanced (for a hophead). Alcohol presence was noticeable (later I discovered this is a DIPA? w/ 9.0% ABV?). The malt flavor? maybe a little bready, but mostly absent. Mouthfeel was crisp, bubbly, light- to medium-bodies, some alcohol burn.

Overall this came across very well. While the malt flavors get seriously slighted, the hops part of the brew is stellar. I enjoyed this brew w/ my lunch, it was good to start, but by the end the heavy alcohol presence got old. One is enough of these, but it gives a nice buzz and it's tasty. Can't ask for much more.

Served in goblet at the Ginger Man, NYC.

A - Pale brassy orange, sudsy white head with decent slow melting lace.

S - Biting floral hops, burnt caramel, wet dog

T - Smooth slightly sweet floral character upfront followed quickly by sharp citrus and pine bite and tangy fruitiness. Decent amount of sweet caramel malt and grains.

M - Medium body, slightly oily. Moderate-low carbonation.

D - Nice; an interesting take on the style.
