Poured into a pint glass. Almost a black beer (with almost no light getting through), but there's a little hint of mahogany color. Tan soapy bubbly head, which lingers pretty nicely.

The aroma was SURPRISING. Here I am expecting to smell sweet-smokey malts, and I'm smelling... wild yeast??? The smell is actually reminiscent of a homebrewed lambic/cider combo I once tried. I'm very confused.

Wow. That wild yeast actually carried through in the flavor. Cidery, acidic yeasty flavor really dominates the beer, with a whisp of hoppiness. Very little hop bitterness. Almost an absence of malt flavor. All I'm tasting is the yeast. It is interesting, but it could use more hops. It tastes like it might be a bit old (though not stale by any means, just a bit aged), but there's no born-on date.

Mouthfeel... not bad. Slightly drying, but extreeemely smooth. I wouldn't mind a bit more carbonation.

Pretty easy to drink despite the fact that it's on the slightly-high-gravity side. The alcohol is well-masked to the point of almost seeming absent in the flavor and mouthfeel. I wonder if I got a weird batch, because what I tasted didn't match up with the other reviews AT ALL...

...or maybe it's everyone else that's crazy!

A scotch ale for $1.79 a single? Yes please! Poured into a pint glass.

A - A deep shade of brown clear in color with ruby hues. The head is great well over a 1/2 inch that settles to a thick ring. No real lacing.
S - Not very sweet or even hardcore peat smells you usually get. It does have some caramel and peat smells and no distinguishable ABV smells.
T - This is actually quite different than typical takes on the style the house yeast these guys use give it a very fruity taste. You get your English hops some peat malt and a touch of caramel. The taste is quite bitter and constant the the ABV is nowhere to be found.
M - Again I would say it drinks quite well for around 8% Light to medium is great for this ale.

Overall I can't say I like this more than Old Chub but I haven't been impressed with a Scotch ale in a while. Would really love to see what a bourbon treatment does to this beer. Worth picking up just for the cost really.

Not sure what the guy under me said its not naturally sour smell or taste. You got an infected batch bro.

Poured into snifter. From brewery so presume to be recent bottling.
A - Thin medium brown pour with minimal head.
S - Smells sour, like an old stale beer.
T - Tast is similar to the smell. The sourness overwhelms any malt or hops that could show through.
M - Thin, lightly carbonated.
O - Not a good representation of a Scotch Ale.
