Served in a tumbler.

Another wheat IPA. Innovation. My industry-wide cynicism aside, this stuff pours a mostly clear brass topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises grapefruit zest, grass, light lime peel, a touch of mango, and a hint of toasted biscuit. The taste brings in more of the same, the grass taking the lead amongst the hops, much to my chagrin (as this toned down the interplay between the citrus-ish wheat character and the fruity hops). The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a wet feel. Overall, a nice enough "white IPA", though I feel it copped out with the grassy hop dominance, basically ignoring the wheat aspect. Still, it's not bad, it's just uninspired, I guess.

Artwork on the label expresses a Rapunzel figure bathing in the foam of a wheat beer lying in the hefeweizen glass; I’m a fan so far. Pours with a copper color in the glass skimpy fierce white head whimsical layered lacing.

Aromatics offer up some earthy vegetal notes brewed with Michigan hops, but I’m not sure of the Variety. A bit perfumey kind of off putting to me at first followed with some mango and faint apple fruitiness.

Flavor is definitely off, dirty hop water dank cloying unfermented sweetness lingering raw hop bitterness and perfume like spice notes just kill it. Wow, what a disappointment for me, the label looks great but don’t judge this beer by it’s cover.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied linger hop notes really kill the experience, comes off cloying with each sip and it doesn’t improve. There are so many great hoppy wheats out there, a style that’s hard to beat when done right.

Overall, Arcadia needs to re-work this recipe very harsh and unpleasant I’m praising the beer gods as we speak, due to the fact that I didn’t buy a whole six pack.

The eggshell-colored head starts off with some extremely creamy heft after rising to nearly two fingers. It doesn't take long to fall, though, but the thick foam is strong in its own right. It leaves a sticky, frothy ring of lace at the top of the glass and follows its recession with spotting.
Wheat just brings in a little dryness and must on the nose along with an earthiness that's clean. There are some sweeter, slightly tangy fruity esters. Hops offer what for the style is an assertive dose of leafy, grassy and slightly herbal bitterness. Underneath is a ghost of powdered sugar and a lemony zest.
The overall character is lost in the flavor, though the hops are more assertive. It's a tit-for-tat I'd like in this beer's case to have gone the other direction. The hops become pithy and astringent to a moderate degree, adding a bit too much sharpness before finishing with some toasted grains. It's still leafy in its overall character, but the malts are simply pushed aside rather than integrated to complement the hops. While a step down from the nose, it isn't bad, though.
The body is medium. It's crisp, clean and fairly dry with a twang that holds the tongue all the way through. The pith builds up as it goes, but it holds up for a good while.

This was a very refreshing beer last evening. Had it at a former colleagues cottage on a lake. The beer was well balanced with hops that leaned toward citrus and pine. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall this was a very nice sessionable beer.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. A new beer to me from Arcadia Brewing Co., haven't had anything new from these guys in quite a while. A 'wheat India pale ale' according to the label. The label also lists a 5.80% abv, so I'm not sure if this is a new incantation of an old beer or what.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a cloudy golden orange colored body with a finger of frothy white head. Adequate carbonation streaming topside from the etching at the bottom of the glass. Some soapy sudsy lacing. Looks pretty nice.

S - The smell is mostly grainy and wheaty. Light yeast presence, orange rinds, & citrus pith, but it is basically a pretty tame aroma.

T - Taste follows the nose - grainy, wheaty, and grassy. Light herbal hop presence, but nothing in the way of what a normal IPA would taste like.

M - The feel is crisp and clean. Dry & bready on the finish. Medium-light bodied with good carbonation.

Overall, a fairly bland and uninspired wheat "IPA" from Arcadia. It's really not a bad beer in any way, but like others have said it just feels uninspired and average at best.

I had this on-tap at Hopcat. Poured into a standard pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber color with a layer of off white head that goes away completely.

Smell: Sweet malt with juicy citrus notes, tangerine, and some citrus peel hops.

Taste: Crisp and clean. Citrus hops with a mild sweetness from the malt. The finish is bitter from the hops.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with tingly carbonation and a mildly dry finish.

Overall: Nothing earth shattering here but it was a crisp beer and was enjoyable and easy to drink.

This brew was served on tap at One-Eyed Betty’s in Ferndale, Michigan. It arrived in a generic but exaggerated 23 oz. Weizen glass, glowing a metallic golden sheen. It held a one and a half finger tall head of white, soapy bubbles, showing okay retention into cheesecloth lacing. Carbonation appeared to be light. The nose came across as very no nonsense in that it wasn’t overly sweet or overly hopped for the style. Aromatic notes included bready and toasty pale and wheaty grain with a rye twinge, melon, aloe vera, nickel, and juicy grapefruity hops to match. This improved greatly as the beer warmed, but still held onto this cheapish, wet, under ripe quality. The flavoring, curiously, showed a heavily malt-forward punch of dirty pilsner grain, with sharp metallics, and cooled banana bread esters. This was met by floury wheatiness, lightly soapy hops, independent citric freshness, chemical phenols, lactic creaminess, gentle booziness, and apricot and cornmeal dust on the back. The body was light, and so was the slurp, showing weaker creaminess on the pull. The mouth was left chalky and dried. The abv was appropriate, and the beer could certainly be glugged back hard if one wanted to do so.

Overall, this was enjoyed alongside Saturday brunch at one of our go-to local eateries. It was a bit early, so we decided to start with something light, as opposed to something like Founders Sweet Repute, which was on tap alongside this one. To this goal, we succeeded in choice, and found a sound, seasonally summerified beverage. Stylistically speaking we felt this more to be a mix between a hearty pilsner and a watered hefe, with the harsh metallics of malts meeting a strong showing of banana ester sweetness. This guy was crisp, but light in flavor until the bitterness really built up on the back, which did aid in keeping you from being overly sweetened. This is a refreshing, appropriate seasonal offering.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours lightly hazy bright gold color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon zest, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, floral, grass, pine, wheat, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/floral hops and light-moderate pale malt balance; with solid strength. Taste of lemon zest, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, wheat, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, wheat, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and balance of bright citrus/floral hops and light-moderate pale malt sweetness; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly sticky/bready mouthfeel that is nice, Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good wheat IPA. All around nice balance and complexity of citrus/floral hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
