Canned 2023/04/27
Pours a foamy bubbly 2 finger head with fair retention and a little lacing, hazy but mostly clear pale color

Nose grainy straw, cereal, doughy malt, nice saison grain, nice grassy floral lemony with a bit of white wine, fruity cereal, a bit like kiwi hops, hint of grapefruit like zest, light floral spices

Taste brings more saison like cereal grain, straw, doughy, light floral peppery spices, saison like spice notes, then more of the Kiwi-like hops, grassy floral, lemony citrus zest, star fruit, lemongrass, a little bit of a white wine thing as well, fruity cereal again, light bitterness, dry finish, a bit of lemon zest and saison spices lingering\

Mouth is med to a bit lighter bod, high effervescent carb

Overall pretty good, more American saison than Belgian but that's OK, good base malt character, love the blend of the hops and citrus fruit, enjoyable

From a 16 oz. can dated 04/27/23. Sampled July 2, 2023

The appearance is a very lemon juice-looking straw, pale yellow with a slight haze and a quick fizzy white head.

Bold aroma of toasted biscuit, toasted bread, but a bigger abundance of citrus zest, strawberry and herbs.

Light to medium mouthfeel.

I expected tartness in the taste but not so. Sweet and bready flavors merge with lemon zest and herbs.

On tap at the brewery. They poured this into a tall tulip (maybe stemmed pilsener). The appearance was a hazy burnt yellow to orange color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head. Adequate sly to thin foamy lacing. The smell had a huge stiff farmhouse funk up front bursting over some fresh sweet grassiness. Delicate black pepper. Refined sweet citrus pulp. Balanced bitternesss. The flavor takes in all previously mentioned flavors - nice funk with the sweet, subtle sour and then the spice. Sly breadiness lingers and slides together to bring into aftertaste (quite subtle yet really good). Semi-sticky to wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. Spiciness is there but semi-contained harsh bitterness of the citrus rind invades to bring about the balanced sweetness. Overall, damn nice saison, one of those Summer saisons that has a nice refreshing aspect to it. Would love to have again.

Foam Brewers "Saison De Foam"
on tap at the brewery on 8 June 2016
$4.50 for 1/2 pint

Notes: Cloudy straw gold beneath a bright white head. Very good head retention and lacing. Aroma expresses spiciness, chalky yeast, and lemon citrus over a sweetish grainy malt. The flavor is a little more citrusy, and it's generally spicy, dry, and subtly acidic wrapped in a grainy malt blanket. Both the yeast character and the spices are kept in check so that it's not overwhelming, and that leaves it quite accessible and drinkable. Medium-light, or is that light-medium? in body and crisp with a fine-bubbled slightly elevated carbonation. Really well-balanced. Really nicely done.

Had at Foam Brewery in Burlington, served in a nice fluted tulip glass. Saison de Foam is a slightly hazy straw color with a medium sized white head and lots of bubbles.

Smell wise it's a little funky, some yeast phenols, sweet cracker malts. Flavor starts with a bit of malt, touch of grain, middle of light sweetness, you get the nice yeast spice here and towards the end. Hint of tartness. Finishes spicy and dry.

Benchmark saison, really well crafted.

up their with their gose for me as the best beers they do. i loved this one, its the perfect mix of rustic and clean, not as belgian as a lot of the non wild saison types tend to be, but still a really flavorful yeast strain thats farmy and incredibly drying without being too funky or anything, very nicely done here. the beer tastes grainy to me, wheat obviously, maybe some torrified wheat, oats too perhaps, this has a nice full body like that. the grain is fresh and somewhat complex, its as flavorful as the yeast is, and its very smooth. not as hoppy as i expected it to be, but there is a nice citrus note towards the finish and a light bitterness that works with the dry overall complexion. it could not be more dry, and the carbonation is effervescent, perfect for hot weather, but also exactly what i look for in the style. this place is awesome, and all of their beers are so well executed, especially for how new they are. they are fully going to kill it. this is just different enough to be memorable, really high quality saison, very much on the cleaner side.

Served on tap at Foam.
Serves up a lightly hazy medium straw color with two fingers of head.
Aromas have lots of yeast and mellow notes of far away spice.
Flavor is delicious and near perfect. Tart, yeasty, clean and some mellow sweetness.
Mouthfeel is quenching and dry.
Overall...this is accessible, flavorful and perfectly crafted.
