Notes/Commercial Description:
Kellerbier is an unfiltered, medieval German beer known for its naturally cloudy appearance. Served straight from the brewmaster’s cellar, it was a true honour for special guests visiting a brewery to be offered a taste. These days we happily make it available to one and all. Our Kellerbier is wonderfully aromatic with a hint of citrus and spice imparted by German whole leaf hops. Not too many breweries make Kellerbier, but then, we've always done things a little differently.

A- Opened well. Poured with an excellent golden hue. Unfiltered cloudy.

S- Not much here at all

T- Ok. Nothing special. Slight citrus and roasted malt. Grapefruit

M- Very good. Nice balance between creamy and carbonation

O- Pretty good. Appearance and mouth feel really bring this one up

Food Pairing

This nice little beer paired well with... cured meat and cheese.

Big off white head that seems to have a tint of yellow to it, recedes really slowly above a thick farmers honey golden copper colored beer.

Lightly sweet grain malt and light grasses in the aroma of the unfiltered Kellerbier.

Lighter sort of sweet malt grain taste with a touch of some bitterness probably from the hops coming through.

A lightly dryish aftertaste that harbors just a bit of the sweet tastes with it with this medium bodied offering.

This beer has some sweetness to it but not enough to be overbearing or unpleasant and even though this isn't my favorite style of beer this was quite drinkable.

Tasted at the Mondial de la Biere in Montreal:

Cloudy amber; ample head that leaves ring lace.

Earthy and malty aroma. Some farm to the nose.

Sweet berry-like malt up front. Good white pepper hop in the swallow. Complex full body with a low carbonation.

Serving Type - 473ml can poured into stein.

Appearance - A very pretty Beer. Pours with 2 fingers of bright white head that fades pretty quickly, leaving behind a low to moderate amount of lacing. The beer itself is a cloudy golden orange colour. That doesn't do it justice, but it's really quite a unique colour.

Smell - Mostly bread and orange peel. Not a whole lot going on here.

Taste - Like many lagers, its quite bready. There is also some light orange peel, coriander and a faint grassy hop taste. Towards the finish there is a distinctive alcohol taste.

Mouthfeel - Nothing special really. Medium-high carbonation. Medium body.

Overall - 3.25/5 Sidenote: This was difficult to review as I've never encountered this style of beer. Would love to find more of the same though.
