From the little bottle, it pours a clear slightly reddish brown color with a modest off-white head that soon reduces to a nice ring. The nose gets sweet malt, caramel and roasted malts. The taste follows nose, with the caramel coming through, along with the roasted/burnt malts.

At first glance, I was excited to try this beer, Day 21 in my Craft Advent Calendar. The flip top bottle and kickass goat on the label scream boozy happiness. My bottle poured deep and dark, with minimal carbonation. The nose is quite off-putting - the only way to describe it is sweet wort (before boiling). This an extremely sweet beer - a bit of pepper and lots of molasses, but overall, not the result I was hoping for.

Day 21 of the BeerAdvent calendar.
Pours a clear red brown with no head.
Nose has a lot of doughy bread, some dark fruit, booze, caramel.
Taste follows the nose though it is lighter and more watery than expected and desired.
A little too sweet and boozy for me.

This poured a light brown with minimal head head that quickly separates into small islands. The nose is malty, with some figs or dates as well. There is a vague hoppiness to the nose as well. The malt is definitely there, but so it the booze, which I find a bit surprising. Even though its coming in at 7.5% ABV it tastes a bit stronger to me. There is a bit of yeasty breadness as well. Those hops on the nose are not there on the tongue as far as I can tell. There is a quick bubbliness in the mouthfeel but it goes away pretty fast. This is one of the other styles that I do tend to like and as I sipped the beer I found myself quite enjoying this one.

330ml, swing-top bottle, day 21 of the 2014 Craft Beer Advent calendar. Happy winter solstice, ladies and germs! Is it just me, or is it often hard to discern a lot of normal German letter renderings - that's a 'B', is it?
This beer pours a clear, bright red-brick amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, weakly foamy, and mostly bubbly beige head, which leaves a bit of unfinished dinosaur skeleton lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.
It smells of bready caramel malt, boozy, and indistinct dark fruit, edgy yeast, a bit of candy bar nougat, and earthy, mildly leafy hops. The taste is semi-sweet, slightly doughy caramel malt, a just less than metallic cold alcohol sheen, generic orchard fruit notes, and a weak earthy, weedy hoppiness.
The bubbles are pretty much AWOL, barely a minor frothy tremor detectible at outlying times, the body an adequate medium weight, and tacitly smooth, a tame booziness poking and prodding, to no real effect. It finishes on the sweet side, the near overwrought caramel malt's dance of doom with its ABV-enabled co-conspirator sealing that and this deal.
Yeah, more than a bit too sweet for my liking - the hops and alcohol not exactly aiding and abetting as they do in the better versions of the style. Drinkable, to a point, that being when your palate just gets tired of hearing the apologies of the inept - and considers the end-point - joy unto us, it is apparently near.

No head, boozy and sweet, not much depth to the flavour. Better than many North American efforts, but below average for the style.

A 7.5% Doppelbock, brownish-amber with a malty-sweet, alcholic aroma. Taste is quite malty, for me Munich and Melanoidin (hence the red) flavors, as well some caramel, plum and hint of smoke in the back. The beer is quite thick with lots of body, much thicker feel than most bocks or even Märzens, another tell-tale sign of Melanoidin, but not at all cloying, oily-thick like a Oatmeal Stout. Hops are somewhat pronounced, probably noble bittering hops in the back of the tongue. It's main drawback is that it has a slight burning alcohol. I find it's a real feat to hide the alcohol, but this one does it only half way.
Overall, a really good doppelbock. What impresses me most is the intense caramel aftertastes and the huge, thick mouthfeel that I love.

The color is a deep copper, dark. It has a quite beautiful head, beige in color, a little too fast in falling down.
Light smell, malt, hazelnut. A light alcoholi note in the end.
The taste is full, intense. Malty notes, obviously, but also bitter, eith hint of rhubarb, and perhaps heather.
Bitter honey notes, too.
Interesting, well warming, aromatic, intense.

BB 15-08-05. Hardly any foam, not lasting well and darkbrown beercolor with redshine. Nose is malty and very roasted together with litle yeastfruit. Oxidation there obviously but still a reasonable nose. Taste is caramellic, coffee, roastbitter, litle sweet and hopbitter. Mouthfeel is bad cause of missing carbonation. Aftertaste is maily bitter and of good quality. Actually quiet a good taste and probably well enjoyable if it wasn't so flat as I got it. Productionfault or bad fliptop... still well drinkable.
