On tap for The Bruery Sucreversary held at The Phoenix Club in Anaheim, CA.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, citrus zest, and slight herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

On tap at Tustin Brewing.

A: Burnished yellow fold with a gigantic white cap. Good retention and much lacing.

S: Apricot and cantaloupe blend with a little bread malt and prominent alcohol notes.

T: Alcoholic orange and grapefruit. From the taste you'd think this was 12% rather than 7.5%. Lightly sweet with a moderate bitterness and a bruising rubbing alcohol finish.

M: Lower medium body with upper moderate carbonation.

Overall: This level of alcohol in the flavor of a beer not that high in alcohol is ridiculous. I tastes like I took a shot of cheap vodka.

On tap at Tustin Brew Co. I really don't know why the reviews below me are so low. Those batches must have been different and this one must have been improved. It's only 2 weeks old according to the bar tender.

Pours a very clear golden sort of amber color. Very nice white head and sticky lacing.

Aroma is not it's strong point. Needs more aroma hops. But it's sort of citric hop and slight malt.

Taste is awesome. I described it to my buddy as a mixture between a Pliny and a Sculpin. It has the bite and the dryness of the Pliny but the tangerine hop and juiciness of a sculpin. Slight sweetness in the finish. Very tasty and not tannic and boozy/solvent. I hope you try it again womancantsail.

Mouthfeel is nice and dry with sweet in the finish.

Overall an awesome double IPA that I will drink every time I come. Try it again guys. They must have made it better

On-tap at Tustin

A: The pour is a clear golden color with a finger's worth of white foam and some scattered lacing.

S: This is sort of broken down into two categories: good aromas and bad aromas. In the good aromas category, there's pineapple, grapefruit and grassy hops. In the bad aroma, I get body odor, propane, and overly toasted malts.

T: There's a definite grainy quality to the beer and overly toasted malts. A decent citrus flavor for a moment, but it's quickly overshadowed by a harsh tannic astringency and bitterness as well as a bit of a chemical/cleaning solution flavor.

M: The body is medium with a moderate level of carbonation and a lasting bitterness.

D: I barely choked down a quarter to a third of the pint; this beer was just rough. Some of their other DIPAs have been good, but this wasn't one of them.

On-tap at the brewpub. The bartender told me this was 7.5% ABV, but I didn't ask what occasion this was brewed for. $4.50 for the pint
during happy hour, on to the beer:

Deep cooper colored, the beer leaves very good lacing on the glass initially. Patchy head retention. The bouquet of citrus fruit and a pinch of caramel make my nose happy, it's quite hoppy and on the mark....so far. The taste is hoppy for sure, good for a brief moment, solid afterwards. Tea-like flavors are pulled out the body. A touch of esters make note on the tip of the tongue. Pine, bitter orange, and burnt caramel are among the underlying flavors. Smooth mouthfeel, not sticky like others in the style, light carbonation, but not watery. Some creaminess initially.

On my fourth try, I have found a beer at Tustin Brewing I would call "pretty good". The hops are a little dull at times, but that doesn't stop this offering. Give it a go.
