On-tap at Tustin

A: The pour is pretty much black with the usual dense, creamy tan head that you get with a nitro pour.

S: Some good chocolate notes that are slightly bitter and slightly sweet. A nice roasty note and perhaps a very mild hint of coffee. It's a touch watery, too.

T: Despite the ominous appearance, this is actually a pretty watery beer. When there is some flavor, it's mostly semi-sweet chocolate and a moderate roast.

M: The body is a touch watery with a smooth carbonation from the nitrogen.

D: A bit too sweet to really be an Irish stout, and of course being watery never wins any brownie points.

On tap at Tustin Brewing.

A: Impenetrable black with a creamy tan head.

S: Dry roasted coffee with earth and nuts. Chocolate is light and I get some cream and roasted malt.

T: Bittersweet coffee and cream with a lower moderate roasted character. There's a low earthy bitterness accompanying light chocolate notes. The finish is coffee grinds and roast.

M: Lower full body with upper moderate carbonation. The mouthfeel is chewy, creamy, and sticky.

Overall: This was a good Irish/Dry Stout.
