Notes/Commercial Description:
A light, smooth, traditional German Altbier also known as an old beer, made in the old world style. Pale golden color and a light body makes this beer perfectly suited to newcomers to craftbrewed beers. Filtered.

On tap at the Brewhouse in downtown Providence and poured into a shaker pint. The body is a clean and clear golden straw in color. Good retention on the coarse, eggshell-colored head with no lacing despite the resilience of the foam. The aroma and flavor are pretty solid for the style. Nothing off to speak of. Dry and slightly grainy, there are notes of grassy and maybe some citrusy hops. It also has that characteristic German skunky character. A great beer to sip on the porch in the summer. Nicely done.

On-tap at Trinity Brewhouse in Providence, RI on 10/6/07, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color with a short white head that fades quickly and leaves very little lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of light malts, grain and pale hops.

T: The taste is very bready, with some spice and some pale hops bitterness. The malt character is thin. The after-taste is bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, clean and dry finish.

D: A little tasty, goes down very easy, not very filling, decent representation of style, this is a good beer to stick with for an evening, but I would normally prefer something a little more flavorful.

Nearly no head; leaves no lace. Reasonably clear, light amber color

Great spicy hop smell, fresh. Grapefruity.

The hop comes through in the taste. Might be too strong for a typical kolsch. But I like the flavor because there is asolid malt base. Good body. Long lasting bitter aftertaste.

Off the tap this beer was a golden color with good clarity. The white head was very thin, the retention ok and the lacing in tiny rings. The aroma was dry and grainy with some floral hops and pale malt. The flavors were crisp, clean and refreshing. Floral hops, dry pale malt, light grains, hints of bitterness and citrus hops. Acidic, sessionable and a great beer to pair with food. The mouthfeel was creamy, the body and carbonation light. Solid and on-point for the style.
