$ 15.89 (Including tax and discount)/500 mL bottle ($ 0.94/oz) from Spec’s, DeZavala, San Antonio, TX. Reviewed 10/12/18.
Undated bottle but 2018 on the label. Stored at 42 degrees and served at 55 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 4.25.
Body – Dark brown/black, opaque. When held to the light, however, a deep ruby body is revealed.
Head – Small (Maximum 2.5 cm, controlled center pour), light tan, initially fizzy but quickly settling into an irregular two to five mm ring fed by effervescence and a complete thin layer.
Lacing – None, as expected.
First pour – Dark amber, clear.
Aroma – 4 – a bit fruity, mostly cherry, and some acetic acid.
Flavor – 4.5 - Begins with a lovely tartness that doesn’t quite strip the enamel from your teeth. This is followed by some cherry. Both acetic acid and tannic acid (from the oak barrels) are evident. No alcohol, no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 4 – Light, watery, lively carbonation.
Impression and interpretation – 4.5 – This is an extremely refreshing and tasty brew!

T: Medium sour, chocolate, cherry, caramel, lemon, acidic, lactic, oak, earthy Brett, vanilla
