Poured into an English pint. Dark brown with ruby highlights, one and a half fingers of creamy tan head. Head is retained for about a minute and a half with light lacing.
The nose is big and roasty and -all- coffee. To be generous, maybe creamed coffee with notes of chocolate, but it smells more like I've found a cup of cold coffee. I find this appealing.
Bitter roasted malts up front, black coffee, nuts, and molasses, followed by dark chocolate. Very mild hop presence effectively balances the beer. Moderate body, smooth texture, and a moderate ABV well-masked make for a very sessionable beer.
One of the better porters I've had--well-balanced and the parts blend seamlessly, rather than a porter with coffee 'added on.'
