PKGD 08/21/23 printed on bottom of 1pt 3.2oz can poured into teku glass on Nov 4, 2023.
Appearance - Clear dark mahogany body. Small one-finger creamy tan/pancake batter head with fine bubbles. Good lacing, and strong stick. Expected for the style. Good retention. Nothing stands out so far. 4.25
Smell - Mild dark fruit. Plum? Completely hidden alcohol at 10.5%, but alcohol peeks through as it warms. 4.25
Taste - What I'd expect for the style. Alcohol well hidden. Dark fruit. Bread. A bit of chocolate. Earthy. Medicinal. 4
Mouthfeel - Full bodied. Alcoholic bite as it warms. Mostly clean finish. 4
Overall - This is better than Bernardus 12. Meaning a Texas quad from a can is better than an actual Belgian quad. Wild world we live in now. 4

Had it from a tall boy today, really interesting beer. Chocolatey, hint of some sort of raisin or maybe cherry, and a bit of caramel. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

12oz bottle split between a pair of WABL sample glasses. Bottled Jan 25 2023. Got it in a trade with @MrSandman101.
Pours a hazy dark brown, fair amount of translucence along the edges but not through the center. Medium to small head, clumpy and uneven, settles into a thick ring and a thin skin, a small amount of active carbonation visible in the glass. Smell is roasty up front, turns into dates and prunes. Moderate yeastiness.
Taste is interesting. More of the traditional dates raisins kind of flavors, with some anise and roast coffee / dark chocolate notes to make it a bit more like a stout. Flavors don't necessarily mesh well, but they don't exactly clash, either, they co-exist and are interesting neighbors.
Mouthfeel moderately thick, a little bit pillowy. Overall, this is a good and very interesting beer.

From a tallboy can produced 1/26/23. Very dark brown with a lacing of light brown bubbles. Smells of brown sugar and raisins. Full body. Brown sugar and raisin flavors with earthy bitterness and notable warmth. Feels like a high-octane beer, and it is.

Super tall boy can, 2022/10/17
I can see why it's called "black quad", much darker than expected, brownish 1/2 finger foamy head with moderate retention, stick lacing, opaque dark mahogany to blackish color
Nose nice Belgian characters, toasted sweet malts, biscuity, rich malt, sweet molasses, candi sugar, sticky toffee, caramelized sugars in general, quite fruity with candied date, fig, raisin, hint of black cherry, smooth perfumey alcohol, light phenol spices, potpourri, sweet dark brown caramel malt
Taste starts sweet but not super sweet, more of everything, toasted biscuity malts, rich biscuity dark caramel toffee malt, sweet flavors with more molasses, toffee, burnt caramel, candied fig and date, raisin, prune, some black cherry again almost like the black cherry ice cream, light perfumey alcohol again and smooth, mild phenol spices in the background, with some bitterness, almost like a bitter wormwood character or bitter spices, a faint chocolate in the background, semi sweet finish, a bit sticky, syrupy, lingering bitterness
Mouth is full bod, rich almost chewy syrupy like, smooth alcohol, med small bubble foamy carb
Overall nice, the only issue is that bitterness that is almost like wormwood or something like that bitterness, it's a bit nagging and out of place, but other than that a fantastic quad

Dark brown body with a light tan head. Aromas of sweet malt, dried dark fruit, toffee, bananas and cloves. A slightly bitter taste with esters, malt, dried fruit. Mouthfeel was a bit thin for the style , while carb was medium. A fuller mouthfeel with at least some creaminess would have helped. Overall, a medium effort at a quad. Doesnt cost much, so that is a plus.

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a very dark brown with a solid 2 inches of tan head. Good lacing. The nose is very much a quad! Rich toffee, malts, a touch of tobacco, dark fruits, and a hint of black licorice.
The taste largely follows the nose. Chewing tobacco, cinnamon, brown sugar, black licorice, toffee, malts, bread, blackberries, plums, and raisins. I would almost call this a smoked quad. Really interesting. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a smoky aftertaste. Not my favorite, but a fun one to try.
