12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Thanks to bhollas for this one. Best by 11-9-11, a tad past due date.

A: Orange in color with a slight yellow tint and a medium haze. A tiny white head with hardly any retention but has very good lacing.

S: Light citrus hops. Pineapple stands out, with grapefruit, tangerine, and touches of mango. Caramel malts blend well with the hops.

T: Caramel upfront, transitioning nicely to hops. Citrus all the way, pineapple and mango. Not real bitter, maybe has faded due to age? A touch of bitterness in the finish.

M: Light body. Medium carbonation. Slightly oily.

O: Good but not great. Can see this being very good fresh. No off flavors what so ever. Nice that the grapefruit takes a backseat.

miikezombie sent me this along with a bunch of other Texas-made goodies in a recent trade. Thanks again, Glen!

Pouring into a Firestone Walker nonic pint glass, this is a slightly hazy, medium orange color with a pillow white foam that's holding up well and leaving lacing along the side of the glass.

Tangerine-like hops, milder herbal quality. Subtle toasted malt. Fermentation aromas seem relatively neutral.

Crisp herbal and citrusy hops. Upfront moderate level of bitterness, Modest, mostly clean malt backbone holds firm, shows off a slight toasted bread. Medium, dry finish with a lingering herbal hop.

Medium-light in body with moderate level of carbonation. Smooth bitterness.

Overall, an enjoyable IPA with firm malt backbone to support the herbal/citrus hops. Would appreciate more flavor in the hops department although the bitterness is smooth and appropriate.

Muchas gracias to Jefferz5000 for this extra. Poured into a FFF pint glass, this is a dark golden color with a thin wet foam. Crystal clear and darker than average.

It smells more balanced than I prefer, caramel malt giving strong counterpoint to the hops, coming across as more an English IPA than an American IPA. Same with the taste, somewhat sweet up front with a more bitter leafy aftertaste. Carbonation on the low side, not quite cask-like but creamy enough to again remind me of the UK. Very nice if you're not expecting an American IPA, middle-of-the-road if you're after the American style.

As mentioned in Elissa IPA rating for St. Arnold, compared the two on tasting.

Pour is light golden color. I liked the wispy head. Created a spiders web look on top of the beer.

Nose of citrus and pine cone.

Medium full mouth feel, bittering hops click in quickly. Nice snappy hop bite. Lost of citrus, floral and piney. Easy drinker. Not of the intensity of west coast IPAs, but fits for this market. A full flavored, intense IPA experience, but not over the top. Well crafted.

12 oz bottle marked "11.09.11 Best if consumed by this date" poured into a pint glass

A- Golden orange with visible carbonation lines. A fluffy, white one-finger head formed on the top and slowly faded to a sticky lacing.

S- The aroma is muted, but I pick up floral notes with some grapefruit, orange peel and a very faint pine.

T- Citrus hits hard up front then makes a smooth transition to a floral and piney flavor and finishes with a great bitterness that lingers in the aftertaste.

M- Light to medium with an almost champagne-like carbonation.

O- The muted aromas had me worried. Then, I tasted it. What a great IPA! Whatever was lacking in aroma was more than made up for in flavor.

Best by 10/14/11 (just under the gun).

Bright, golden body. Slightly off-white head. Builds to a small cover, then settles out to small patched of bubbles.

Very floral nose, with some spice. Oranges zest and pine. Touch of honey. Cracker malts.

Dry cracker malt flavors at first. Floral and citrus hops. Some tea like herbal tones. Honey sweetness. Smooth and balanced, with a soft bitterness.

Easy drinking, flavorful IPA. Nothing fantastic. Just well made.
