A: 12oz bottle into a tulip glass. Opaque medium copper. Half finger head with aggressive pour, didn't last long.

S: Dissolved quickly with the head, couldn't get much smell off it after that, maybe a hint of pumpernickel or (surprise) rye bread, pretty faint so hard to tell.

T: Slightly overdone pizza crust. Some bitterness comes on late and a hint hangs onto back on tounge for a while. Some other stuff but hard for me to pick out.

M: Decent coating, mild carbonation thickens a bit.

O: Better than I expected, first shot at a rye beer. Drinkable especially with food. Not great but not bad. Doubtful I will be looking for it again, though.

Pours an attractive dark apricot body with a health off white head.

Aroma is sweet malts, grainy hops, and just a touch of rye. Faint and lighter than I would like.

Taste is off putting yet bland. Very sweet and unbalanced with damp grain flavors and a pineapple hoppy finish. I really don't get much rye character. The sweetness is almost cloying.

Drinkability is low, very low.

Not my kind of beer at all.

This was my first 'rye beer' to try and I quite enjoyed the style. I don't have others to measure it against, but I thought this was a really well-balanced beer with a nice amount of bready rye flavor and aroma with a touch of sweetness. It was really easy to drink and I was surprised at how fast I drank it. I would like to try it as it warmed up a bit more.

Pours a hazy orange/iced team color with a white head. The aroma is rye with some earthy hops. The flavor is heavy on the rye with earthy hops, biscuit and caramel malt. The aftertaste is strong rye. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. A great showcase of what rye can bring to a beer.

Best by date 5/18/2009. Pours burnt orange with a nice two finger white head that stays around for a while. Smells both hop fruits and alot like bread. Taste is rather smooth with a slight malted sweet bread taste and a nice hop bite at the end. Mouthfeel is excellent. It might be a little heavy. Overall, I've never had another rye. That being said, I have a feeling this rye could have a little more "rye" to it.

Bottle consumed at Pedicab in San Antonio, TX.

Pours a slightly hazy amber-copper color with a one-finger off-white head. the head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving decent lacing.

Smells of grainy caramel malts with mild amounts of rye and milder amounts of floral hops.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Somewhat dry caramel malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by good amounts of spicy rye. The rye definitely has more presence in the flavor profile than it did in the aroma. Midway through the sip very light hints of citrus hop flavors make an appearance before fading into a mildly bitter ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a solid thickness with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability is also good. I finished my glass without a problem and could have another.

Overall this was a middle-of-the-road rye beer for me. The rye was there but didn't pop and nothing else really stood out as above average. Worth a shot but not worth seeking out.

Beer pours the color of honey, a nice amber brown with a tan head that dissipates quickly.

Nose has a distinct rye characteristic that is a little yeasty and smells of slight baked bread.

Taste is of a typical pale ale with some rye flavors. Its not a heavy rye and its quickly eclipsed by some floral and apple flavors. There is a slight biscuit aftertaste combined with a subtle dryness.

This beer is just above average. Not one that I would turn away if offered but also not one I would buy again.

Many, Many thanks to assurbanipaul for this brew.
Pours a medium foggy tea color in the glass with a nice small white head that melts to a ring of moderately sticky lacing.
Aroma is mostly toasted malt to me.
Flavor is a wonderful surprise of toasted malt followed with fresh citrus hops....all of it playing under the crisp, bready, spicy tones of Rye.
I love a rye beer and find them rarely.
This Rye Pale Ale is a great blend. The Rye is DEFINITELY there...you don't have to look for it. It leaves your palette clean and dry with just a touch of white pepper left on the tongue.
Good job on a wonderful brew.

Received in a trade from htomsirveaux. Much thanks William! Poured into a Sam Adams Boston Lager glass.

A - copper color with some slight haze to it. The head pours rocky and quickly settles to bubbles around the sides of the glass.

S - An odd sweetness blends in with a bready malt nose. Is it apricot? Maybe caramel? Don't know. It's interesting and unexpected.

T - Much more balanced than the nose, but still an interesting little sweetness shows up in the finish. Rye bready boldness balanced well with the hops and the mild sweetness. Very good.

M / D - The mouthfeel is effervescent and fresh, with a nice hop aftertaste. Very drinkable in the sense of it's an easy drinking beer and not an overpowering flavor.

12 oz. bottle > 16 oz. SA glass

Thanks to rick Sawyer and Team Sinister for this bottle.

Pours out a cloudy, red hued, amber color, big carbonation and a mild 1/2" tall crown that dissipated pretty quick.

The aroma is very nice with a spicey, pineapple and ginger with fresh wheat 'n grains in the malt, mellow strawberries rounds it off.

A semi-sweet wheat malt flavor quickly gives way to an abundant array of fruity, citrus hop flavor's like, pineapple, peaches, and strawberries. It's a clean, springwater current that eases the balance. The Rye gives a freshly cut wheat field effect and the malt brings in a sweet current. There is a slightly astringent, vodka-like effect in the heat right a the end.

Light bodied feel, crisp, clean with a decent smooth edge in the finish.

for the most part, I really enjoyed it.

12oz bottle, thanks to BA'er Exiled for another quality trade

served in a SA Perfect Pint glass

A - poured about a half inch of loose bubbly dark cream colored foam. the beer is hazy, light amber in color.

S - strong sweet malts, emphasizing on honeyed biscuits and lightly toasted nuts. just a kiss of light grassy hops at the end.

T - begins with a meld of sweet biscuity malt and honey, wet grassy hops, and light rye. turns a little soapy through the middle before hops take over at the end, bringing along some pine now through the finish.

M - light body with moderate playful carbonation. a little sticky and dry, finishes with lingering bitterness and rye spice.

D - grew on me after the first couple sips as the hops and rye took a little bit to take hold. decent balance, and ineteresting enough to have a few during whatever games you like to watch. thanks Jason!
