After having their Altbier I'm expecting them to tackle German styles well.

Pours a clear deep orange with an off-white head. Retains well and leaves some lacing.

Breadiness upfront with some sweeter caramel in behind with some spicy and herbal hop.

Lightly toasted bread and caramel. Low bitterness with some herbal and earthiness to it.

Sturdy bodied with plenty of carbonation to move pleasantly along the palette.

Tried on tap at the Rockwall Flying Saucer. Pours orangish amber, about like you would expect an Oktoberfest to look. Smell is malty with a little sweetness. Taste is similar. Not the best Oktoberfest out there, but a good representation of the style that will not disappoint you.

Poured from 12oz bottle. Many thanks to AttitudeBrew for this bottle.

A- Pours a hazy amberish color with light orange hues to it. One finger white foam shows light retention. Spotty lacing on the sides of the glass.

S- Bready caramel malts in the front of the aroma. There is some light toasted malts as well with a hint of little nuts and hops.

T- Bready malts in the front of the beer showcase a caramel malt that becomes the backbone throughout the entire beer. A toasted middle to the beer brings in a light off buttery tone as well. Mild spiced hops in the ending gives way to a corn like grainy final flavor.

M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is medium and light for the style I think. Caramel malts with some light toasted flavor to it are left on the palate. Aftertaste is mostly grainy flavor, light alcohol, and toasted malts. Flavors were well put together for the style although the overall flavor could have popped more. Light buttery undertone in the middle is the only off flavor in the beer. Light alcohol drying on the palate.

D- This beer is drinkable but average at best. I personally enjoyed the ABV being as low as it was. Alcohol never really became overpowering. Flavors could have been a little more but average and doesn't leave you wanting more.

Pours out a deep amber. Smells toasty, grainy, and cardboard-y. That toast and graininess is way up front in the taste. I get some of the classic Marzen flavors underneath that: some breadiness and caramel sweetness, but the initial characteristics take over. Mouthfeel is kind of slick and the carbonation is too sharp. This isn't particularly good; not at all, really.

Appearance: A slightly cloudy copper-brown body capped by a finger of off-white head that burns out quickly and leaves no lacing.

Aroma: Spicy noble-like hops over rich earthy medium malt. Very much to style.

Flavor: Just the same as the nose, the flavor profile is spicy hops over sweet and slightly toasty earthy malt. It's balanced nicely. Husky malt and light herbal hops in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a neutral finish.

Drinkability: Easily quaffable, this would be a great choice for your local Oktoberfest.

Verdict: Real Ale have brewed up a straightforward, true-to-style Märzen here. It's not particularly exciting, but fans of the style won't be disappointed.

Picked up a sixer of this in October in Fredericksburg. I love the Real Ale family of beers and had a hard time finding this in stock in Houston. According to the packaging this was brewed in the Bavarian style using Munich and Vienna malts.

A - Poured a clear copper color in my pint glass, thin white head with little lacing.

S - I got malts, toast and a little bit of hop in the nose.

T - Smooth transition from malts up front to a little bit of hops in the back. I tasted metal in the finish (from the hops I think).

M - A little chewy in the mouth, went down easy.

D - I thought the drinkability was good, was not too filling and would great as a festbier in New Braunfels or Blanco.

Thanks to JJFoodie for this!

Pours a medium copper color, with a slight tan finger of head, and a little bit of splotchy lacing.

Aroma is slightly bready, but mostly nutty, malty sweetness.

Taste is a bit biscuity, with some nice sweet malts, some nuttiness, slight bitterness and maybe even a tinge of citrus.

Feel is crisp, creamy, light, but with substance.

Pretty good drinkability. Drinking a couple would be cake.

I bought a bottle today of this because it has been screaming my name. The appearance of this beer is very nice. Has a dark caramel color and doesnt have much head after pouring. The smell is very nice, can get some wheat scents from it, very pleasant and makes you want to drink the beer. The taste reminds me a lot of german beer. Real Ale, like most of their beers, knocked this one out of the park. The mouthfeel is nice, the beer is tasty and it seems like a true Oktoberfest beer.

very clear ruby tinted brown with a good two finger hight head of off white, tannish colored lace. Smell was good, lots of bready ,malts with a kicker of bittering hops. Nothing spetacular but still a quality brew. Nice light feel and good carbonation stayed until the end. Overall this was not a bad beer at all. I have had better, but this was still very sessionable and something that I am sure wood not dissapoint. Defintly a tick above the average Oktoberfest, but nothing that was fall down awesome. Though the finish had a nice touh of sweetnes to it, some caramel and even a tocuh of roasted nuts that seemed to linger and push the flavor forward.
