A: The beer pours a murky, dark amber note with a small white head.

S: The oak is super strong and really provides most of the aroma to the beer. A lot of spicy oak notes, a bit of char, and some sweet vanilla. Quite a bit of fruit, perhaps some black cherries that have a subtle tartness.

T: A big time fruit character on the flavor with a lot of cherry as well as some raisins, maybe a touch of green apple. The oak is again very strong and adds a nice tannic and spicy note. Plenty of vanilla to go with it, and a slight char/smoke flavor. Even with all of that going on, there's still some of the base sweetness of Sisyphus.

M: The body is medium and the is light carbonation.

D: Sisyphus is one of my favorite beers from Real Ale, so this was a real treat. A really nice beer.

An 8 oz. snifter at Hay Merchant on 7/25/2013.

Deep brown with a small head. Dried fruit and vanilla aroma. Similar in flavor to the Highlander but with considerably less sugar. Tastes more as if it has been aged in bourbon barrels than French oak. Mild sweetness with noticeable vanilla characteristics. Surprisingly dry for 11.5 ABV. Medium-light bodied. Exceptionally smooth for a relatively young barleywine.

A - Poured a copper color with a white head that leaves lacing behind

S - The barrel aging added some wonderful scents to this the oak and vanilla was an excellent addition to the sweet malt and dark fruits

T - Follows the nose sweet malt with some dark fruits upfront then the barrel aging flavors come out has an alcohol finish

M - On cask this beer has a perfect creamy smooth body with light carbonation to it

D - This is about as drinkable as you can get for a barleywine this is a beer you have to be on the look out for and when you see it on cask you need to jump on it and get a glass

Sampled on tap at the Freetail-Real Ale barrel-aged festival in San Antonio.

The beer pours an amber color with a white head. The aroma is sweet caramel with some brown sugar and oak mixed in. The flavor is very heavy on the oak. I also get a lot of brown sugar, caramel malt, alcohol and some hop bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel and low carbonation.

On tap @ Meddlesome Moth in Dallas.

A - Cloudy opaque dark amber colour with a ring of cream coloured head.

S - Lots of oak with a nice toast character. Toffee, caramel and a candy-like sweetness.

T - Sweet toffee and caramel. Toasted oak with some astringency. Candy sugar, nuttyness. A warming ABV throughout.

M - Medium to full body. Creamy. Light carbonation.
