On tap at Hay Merchant in Houston.

A: Pours an opaque black color. No light gets through at all. At first a one finger tan head forms with good retention initially. That eventually fades to leave a dense black liquid.
S: Oak barrels, slight char and smoke. The barrels are up front and center. Roasted malt and coffee. Enjoyable in the nose.
T: Oh ya, the barrels just take over. Oak, char, smoke. Roasted malts come through in the back end. The barrels are the hole show.
M/D: A full and viscous body. Low on the carbonation. Sticky and adhesive like. This is a really slow sipper, but an enjoyable one. Just not something I am coming back to again and again.

If you like a full on barrel character this is for you. I did enjoy this, but I usually like a little more rounded flavors with the barrels and the stout. Very much worth a try though.

8 bucks for half pint at Easy Tiger in Austin, TX.

Perfect carbonation, good head retention.

No shortage of whiskey in the nose. Intense aroma.

Surprisingly smooth following the aroma. Vanilla, chocolate, oak, molasses, spice, roasted nuts. Oh and whiskey! Dry finish.

Easily one of my favorites from the Mysterium Verum series. Definitely worth trying.

On tap at the hay merchant, typical stout looking brew kept a light ring around the edges with minimal lace. The nose is straight bourbon, some roasted malt and chocolate in the back but bourbon just dominates. This keg had to of been tapped very recently and it's apparent, the taste is chocolate and some burnt oak, not a lot of vanilla but the bourbon just comes right through. I love bourbon in all shapes so I'm enjoying but if you don't move on. The mouthfeel is a little heavier for being barrel aged and carbonation is moderate. Alcohol just singes the tip of your tongue and flows through. Overall I like this beer and I enjoyed the non BA as well. Great offering and I'm greatly enjoying it sorry for the shitty review i cant focus gd haha. Bourbon lovers unite.

On tap at the Common Table's anniversary party.

The beer pours deep black color with a few small brown bubbles, but nothing you would really call a head. The aroma is very boozy with some raisins and roasted malt thrown in. The flavor is more of the same. There is a ton of oak and bourbon notes, with a lot of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. All of the notes from the original stout meld very well with the bourbon-barrel character. Thick mouthfeel and low carbonation. Very nice.

On tap at The Common Table for their 2nd Anniversary

A: Pours a dark brown, black in the glass, with a small brown head that fades to a ring and leaves a bit of lacing on the glass as you drink.

S: The nose is seriously good. Lots of vanilla, molasses, chocolate, and brown sugar. There is a touch of booze in the nose as well but it's nothing crazy.

T: The taste is unlike any other beer I've had from a TX brewery...this is akin to something like GI BCS or BA Plead the 5th. Loads of vanilla, molasses, fudge, and chocolate with a bit of a whiskey flavor. The whiskey is integrated very well and the hops from the base beer when it was fresh have been toned down considerably.

M: The feel is on the thicker side of medium with decent carbonation although it does lose a bit towards the end of the glass.

O: Definitely one of the best beers I've had from a Texas brewery. Everyone I talked to at the event agreed as well. I'd buy this by the case if it was released in bottles. Incredibly tasty!
