A- Pours a clear deep amber color with a creamy/rocky off white head that has ok retention and very good strong lacing.
S- The aroma is a little tame at first with notes of caramel and mild floral/piney/citrusy hops. Mild yet very comlex. I'll bet the aroma will open up quite a bit after warming up a little. Oh yes, as this beer warms a little, and with a swirl of my glass, the nose opens wide up with much of the same as mentioned above, just more in yo face than while still cold.
T-The flavor if much of the same. Straight foward with burned caramel and a pungent bouquet of hops. Pine is the more prodominant hop in the taste. I don't think this should be catagorized as a double IPA, I think they got it right and intended on making an imperial amber ale. It's almost barleywine-like imo. If I'm judging this as a double IPA, it has lower scores, but as an imperial amber ale, it has high scores. (Just to make it clear, I'm judging this as an imperial amber ale, not IIPA)
M-Very slick and sweet with a long bitter finish and medium to low carbonation.
O-I really like this beer. It's a very good hoppy beer for the "cooler" south texas nights. Very glad I made myself splurge and bought a four pack. I highly recommend this beer to anyone who loves big hoppy beers.

Chilled 12 oz. bottle into a shaker pint. Best-by date 12.11.13 - Seems ambitious considering that I've had this in my fridge for at least a month or two.

Look- A vigorous pour leaves me with half a finger of dense off-white head; tons of visible particulate suspended in the beer; here's to hoping it's unfiltered hop pellets. Cloudy deep amber. Sparse lacing.

Smell- Ripe melon, lemon, papaya, borderline abrasive pine-y aroma. Overall impression of starburst candies and green tea. Develops more cracker-y characteristics as it warms.

Taste- Massively dry-hopped, bitterness milder than expected; I'd guess 65-70 IBU. Green tea, tangerine rind, honey, light treacle, starfruit. Distinct English-y stone fruit ester character, low butteriness. Middle brings out a semi-sweet roasty flavor more along the lines of roasted espresso liqueur-soaked ladyfingers than plain toffee. Bread pudding, perhaps. Compliments the mild-moderate bitterness and mild fruit character very nicely. Resin, white raising, light mineral character on the back end. Nice balance, complexity, overall flavor.

Mouthfeel- Medium body, medium carbonation. Juicy, full feel. Light stickiness, slick, fairly clean finish. Easy drinking, found myself quaffing rather than sipping.

Overall- Very nice, if pricey. It's good to see Real Ale continue to experiment. Not going to blow most hop-heads away, but definitely worth picking up if you can get it and I'll probably be snagging another four-pack. Recommended.

Nice looking brew. Red and clear with a good lasting head and pretty good lacing too.

The nose is super hops with a side of hops. Lots of pine, citrus, lemon peel. Faint biscuit malt and caramel.

Flavor is nice, lots of hops come forth right away. Citrus, lemon peel, grapefruit peel, pine, along with a more pronounced and somewhat balancing malt character.

Body is a bit slick, pretty full, and finishes bitter from the hops.

I like this one, it's damn tasty. Another success from Real Ale.

Got in a trade with Cyde. 12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 12/11/2013. Pours hazy and cloudy dark ruby red color with a 1 finger dense cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, orange zest, caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, floral, grass, light pine, and toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with great balance and good complexity of dark malt and hop notes, with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, orange zest, caramel, toast, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, floral, grass, light pine, and toasted earthiness. Slight pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, caramel, toast, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, floral, light pine, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity of hop and dark malt flavors; with a near perfect malt/hop balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice imperial red ale! All around nice balance balance and complexity of malt and hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Copper red in color.

This beer reminds me of furious and is quite good. Lots of grapefruit and hop resin. Floral and juicy with a little bit of a malt backbone.

Nice and hoppy with some bitterness and malts to balance it out. I like it. Ends a little sticky.

12oz bottle
Best before 12/13/13
Unmarked Riedel tulip

A: Pours a pretty deep amber color. Initially almost two fingers of slightly off white egg shell like head. Leaving some sticky lacing. There are some floaties in there, not clear at all.

S: Good nose here. Getting nice hop character: more earthy and pine like hop aroma. Then that traditional red ale comes through, nutty light caramel and slight toffee.

T: Nice prick of hop bitterness right on tip of the tongue. It's that nice pine character from the nose. Mid palate still getting earthy and slight herbal hop flavors, but met by the deep red ale malts. Hints if caramel and toffee. That nuttiness. Finish is dry and there is lingering hop flavors that stick with you.

M: Nice big medium. Mouth coated with hops.
