A - Really nice outdoor seating on a wooden deck looking out over the water. Great for a sunset. Unless it was raining or 1000 degrees I would sit outside.

Q - Offered all your basic styles and then had a few guest taps. Very impressed with the beers that I had tried.

S - Waiter was very polite, prompt, and knowledgeable. Really doesnt get better than that.

S - Offered your typical styles and a few guest taps.

V - Prices were very reasonable for the location.

I would recommend going to this place to anyone. The beer is tasty and the view is amazing.

Visiting the Belmont in Long Beach. It's essentially right on the beach. It's a large place and I'm visiting on a Monday....while football is on in the bar....the rest of the place is slow...so it's hard to give a high score for vibe...but it's really nice. The beer, food and cleanliness are all very good. Jessica my server....outstanding! You go girl! Decent selection for both food and drink. Overall I'm glad I had a chance to visit and believe this place is higher than the 3.5 it's currently getting.

This place is nice for taco tuesday, surprisingly good tacos. Felt like they didn't appreciate me just drinking when I took a nice spot on the patio on a date. However they do have some good beers and good tacos. Staff can be hit or miss.

Cool spot with a great view. The beer selection is good and at times they put out a brewers selection. A nice spot to take a bike ride and stop in for an appetizerr, warm sour dough bread and a good beer. One of my favorite spots to stop when I am chillin' on the pier.

This place doesn't have great food or great beer, but for some reason, I just really enjoy going there. I don't know if it's just the overall atmosphere, the cheap pitchers or just comfortable seating, but I just like it. The beer is sorta whatever.. Average. However, they do offer something called "Topathon", which is a blend of their Top Sail Blonde and Marathon Amber. Separate, they aren't great, together, magic happens. Order a pitcher of it, and enjoy.

If you feel like dodging a smattering of urban outdoorsmen and their full shopping carts on the way in, you will really enjoy this place. Great food, very sizable portions and terrific beer. I appreciate the fact that they stick with traditional, low ABV English styles and don't try to go all gimmicky with boozy imperial IPAs. The Pale and Top Sail were both excellent. They also have a generous selection of local guest beers. Overall, I give this place a strong recommendation. It's definitely worth the visit if you are within 10 miles or so.

I stopped by Belmont Brewing after seeing it for the past 4 years while courting my now wife. The inside is a bit run down and almost seems like a Denny's or something that happens to brew beer. The brewery equipment is behind the bar and I am not too sure it is the same stuff they use to make their beers. Quality was pretty good and the service was the same. The selection of beer is pretty decent but nothing stood out really. Prices for the beers were reasonable. I wouldn't really recommend this place unless you are a ticker like me and want to try all of their beers ($6 for a 6 beer sampler).

I really really REALLY want to like this place... I don't hate it... but they are extrodinarly BLAND. Their food ... they have great concepts... but... it taste like frozen food. It is not fresh tasting...

Their beer... same thing, it is good... but it is nothing special. The Hop Head Red I really liked... I have gotten a few growler fills of that, for $9 for a fill, can't beat that... But as for the rest, tastes pretty generic... This could be a premier beer spot, if they step up their game a bit.

I made a quick stop at BBC, and here's what I got:

PROS: Overlooks the water, solid house selection of beers (six varieties, including the infamous Long Beach Crude), solid selection of guest brews (Stone, Green Flash, and Franiskaner) good happy hour given at three potential timeslots, reasonable prices on pints. 20 ounce imperial pints are offered as well.

CONS: Interior reminiscent of a family restaurant from the early 90s. While the Long Beach Crude was nice, I was a little short poured on it. The brewing equipment behind the bar looks out of place given the decoration on the interior.

VERDICT: I'll admit I haven't tried the other beers, but the Long Beach Crude is reason enough to make a trip.

My girl lives across the street from BBC so I have been coming in regularly for about a year. I find the the atmoshere fun and the service is not as bad as some of the posts I have read, might have been a busy or off night for them? Just get here earlier than later if there is a good game on because the bar fills up quick.

The Beer usually consists of about five home brews and five guest brews. Their home IPA is what I come for but I do have to say it gets better and the flavors come out more on the second pint..! Little to no head or carbination but the grapefruit really starts to come through. The Long Beach Crude is decent as well but you can definitley taste the alcohol and see it floating on top (hence the name).

The food has always been good, the grilled atrichoke and crab cakes are great (but not on the menu so ask for them!)

Overall I find it to be a fun and relaxing place with a nice view of the water and it's on the pier so you can't go wrong there.

Stopped in on Saturday 5/29/2010, during the Lakers play off game. Cool atmosphere if you want to party and watch the game but if you want to get a seat and eat or drink, big mistake.

This place is right on the water. Real nice area but no where to park. Lots of windows and some nice outside seating on the patio. There are TV's positioned around the bar and plenty of small tables.

Didnt eat the food but the beer selection wasn't real impressive. There were a couple good guest tapes but the 5 house beers ranged from what ever to garbage. $1/sample isnt too bad though.

Not interested in going back to Long Beach just for this place.

Cool place to hangout by the beach if you get the munchies or wanna grab a brew if you didn't already bring some in a cooler. The place is preety cool cause it looks like its on a pier near the water and offers some alright brew. When I was a beer rookie their strawberry blonde was one of my favorite beers of all time. The selection is decent with basic styles and the quality of the brews are average, nothing special but a cool place to grab a bite to eat and have couple of beers if you find yourself your by belmont shores.

This is located right on the beach in Long Beach. Right next to Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool. It has a decent amount of outdoor seating which is very nice but can get a bit chilly in the evening. The inside is split into two rooms with a glass wall separating the two. One room is the remainder of the seating and the other is the bar area with tables where people can also sit and eat. Can't speak too much on the set up of the bar since I haven't sat in that room.

There are six house beers on tap, 5 regular ones and a beer of the month, and 5 or 6 guest taps. They also have a few special bottles available but aren't anything you can't find easily. I had the Long Beach Crude (stout) and my parents had an amber and a honey blonde. None of them impressed me all that much, parents seemed to like theirs. Can buy 22oz of four of their beers to go. Not sure if you can buy growlers, didn't ask.

The food is pretty good and have a decent selection of different things to have. I had a steak which was good. The portions aren't the biggest portions I've ever had but I left the place full. Prices for the food were reasonable.

The service was good, quick and friendly. Quick to get our drinks, food and anything else we needed.

I would recommend stopping in here for a bite to eat. It never is too crowded and it's a nice place to eat. The beer is good, nothing amazing, but enjoyable.

Why, oh why did none of these places exist when I was sentenced, I mean, stationed down here?!? It would have made the USS Crommelin (almost) bearable.

Entering, the place ran west to east with the coastline off to the left. The m.d.s. was directly inside the door with the kitchen off to the right. An aquarium was along the passageway leading to the the restaurant area and the bar along the north wall. The bar was laminated blonde wood and the back bar consisted of the brewhouse and four (4) FVs. A set of steps, just before the bar area and off to the left, led past the grist room to the lavs. Past these stairs was a door leading to their outdoor patio area. The Men's room had a disturbing B&W photo of the Long Beach drunk tank as it existed on 26 December 1929, which was labeled "BBC Happy Hour". Oof. I have been in the tank before and there was nothing happy about it. In fact, it was brutal.

Beers: The standards included Marathon Light (4.5); Strawberry Blonde (4.5); Pale Ale (4.8); Top Sail (Amber) (5.5); Long Beach Crude (Stout) (6.2), plus Hefeweizen as the "Ale of the Month". I saw that they bottled most of their standards, but I had enough to lug around.

I cannot say that I was in love with this place, It had something that I could not put my finger on, but it was an unpleasant vibe. The music was loud and annoying and I found the beers to passable, but not fantastic.

Mom Test: Nah. She would prefer somewhere more subdued so that we would be able to talk.

Visited at lunchtime on Monday, 11/12/07. Nice, classier-than-expected place tucked away down the coast from Long Beach. During warm weather, the patio is the place to sit. I have been three or four times over the last several years, and the staff is always attentive and polite. The food is two cuts above the average brewpub fare: this place is more of a restuarant with beer than a brewpub. They have their standard year round brews plus a seasonal/rotating tap. If I lived a little closer and their beers were a little better, I'd be a regular.

I had stopped in the Belmont Brewing Co. once before while vacationing in CA with my wife. It had left a positive impression on me, so I returned again (this time for dinner) with the intent of writing this review.

I started with a sampler which included six 3 oz pours for $5. This included:
Marathon – described as a “wonderful light ale” that I thought was awful,
Top Sail - a very nice amber ale that I chose for my next pint,
Pale Ale – good,
Seasonal (ESB) – solid,
Strawberry Blond - not a style I cared for so I abandoned this one at the bar, and the
Long Beach Crude - an interesting stout that I initially thought was a smoked porter.

The Happy Hour prices were very reasonable with HH Pints - $3, Pitchers - $8 (4:30-6:30). I also liked that they had a late night HH from 8:30-10:30, every weekday night. Otherwise the pints and pitchers were $4 & $12 respectively.

Guest beers included: N. Coast's Pranqster, Scrimshaw Pilsner, Avery's White Rascal, Green Flash's West Coast IPA, Spaten Munich and Franziskaner Weisse.

For dinner I started with the Hawaiian Poke ($8.95) - Spicy seasoned raw tuna served on a bed of lettuce with crispy Wonton noodles, which I thoroughly enjoyed. For an entrée, I ordered the Artichoke Ravioli, one of two vegetarian dishes, for $14.95.

I sat inside, at the moderately large bar, and watched the LA Kings getting destroyed by Chicago on one of three large flat screens surrounding the bar. On my previous visit I was seated on the patio out back, which is a nice option for lunch when the weather is warmer. A third option is to sit in the restaurant section which is skillfully sectioned off from the more raucous bar area and appeared to offer a more intimate setting for dinner and drinks. Inside, at the bar, the music was mostly classic 70's rock (Clapton, Dead, Dillon) and the volume seemed to be just loud enough to be heard over the chatter of the early evening crowd.

Overall, the food was pretty good, the beers were mostly decent, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing. I’d go back again, but not based solely on the beer.

Beautiful location right on the beach in Long Beach. The bar area has a roomy feel, and isn't overloaded with TV sets. The beer list is typical, a wheat, a pale, a stout, and a special. The special was a Belgian golden, which wasn't overly Belgian but was quite good anyway. It did a good job of masking it's 8.5% alcohol. It was early in the day, so we just tried a sample of that one. I tried their pale, which was a nice, effective west coast offering. Nothing particularly special, just clean malt and a safe dose of hops. Also tried a sample of the stout which was similarly unremarkable but well done.

I had an order of buffalo wings which were outstanding, and my girl had an interesting brie appetizer thingy. Also very good, though I can't remember exactly what it was. We saw some burgers and other sandwiches walk by that looked kinda lackluster, but didn't try them. Bar service was great, cordial, pleasant, competent, etc. Will definitely return.

Belmont Brewing Co. seems more like a large modern restaurant first, the a brewpub second. On a Saturday evening, it was plenty crowded with a mixed bunch. We hustled to a corner booth. I was advised by a fellow local BA that that the Crude Stout is decent and the only beer worth getting. Well, let me tell ya, he was right! The Crude Stout was worthy of a pitcher.

Could you take your Mother here? Yes. It's a clean place that seems to do fine in the business department. My best advice is that it's not worth much of a drive but worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood.
