To fulfill the webform requirements I rated everything as a 4. I'm not a whatcha calla "connoiseur" with any knowledge of things like lacing and mouthfeel or whatnot. I just plain like this beer. I usually drink it from the can a tad cooler than room temperature. It's flavorful, and the 7.5% ABV doesn't bite (though you will feel it soon). Not cheap, but worth the money IMO.

pours out of the can a slightly hazed straw colour. rocky bone white head is supported by some active carbonation. wispy lace. corn and honey aroma accented by some grass and wheat. taste is a combination of grassy honey, pale malts, a bit of wheat and adjunct. definitely an american wheat concoction, no true weizen or hefe characteristics. any spiciness is mostly due to the rather well hidden, higher than average ABV. finishes on the dry side with a slight dirty hop bitterness. well rounded body for the style with a crisp and dry mouthfeel. no residual sweetness here. drinkability is nice. i could see this being a nice summer drinker.

overall i'm a bit confused by this offering. beers of this sort are usually lower in ABV than this to make them reasonably sessionable. one can obviously taste the honey and adjunct, well attentuated to a fault, giving it a malt liquor feel that does it no favours. i'd ratchet up the wheat, get rid of the corn and use a yeast that imparts some hefe characteristics.

this would be a nice ale to pair with a hearty steak, some ribs or some sausage and sauerkraut.

Thanks to beersndrums for this one! Another beer from a brewery new to me!

12 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass at fridge-cellar temperature.

L – Pale gold color with a 1-finger bubbly white head that dissipates rather quickly into a ring of bubbles around the side of the glass. Relatively clear with a good amount of bubbles.

S – Lots of honey, peppery and citrus hops and yeast, a touch of wheat, and maybe some slight banana esters.

T – Starts off sweet with grainy wheat and a good amount of honey. As the taste progresses, some mildly bitter citrus hops come in at the very, very finish. This is mostly wheat and honey, though, just as the name says.

F – Light-bodied, great carbonation, a semi-creamy and smooth mouthfeel, and a sweet and mildly dry finish. Sweet honey and wheat flavors linger.

O – This is a pretty good wheat beer. It comes exactly as advertised with lots of wheat and honey with some additional aromas (and some flavors) coming along for the ride. It is definitely tasty and very drinkable. I could definitely see myself crushing a bunch of these on a hot summer day. Thanks for the experience, Jared!

Poured into a balloon glass.

The beer is a very hazy peachy orange? A white head recedes to a wisp and a lot of webby lacing remains on the glass. The aroma is of cereal grains, wheat, and of course honey. The taste is sweet up front but not cloying. Barley and wheat grains carry through the body with a nice honey glaze. The mouthfeel is nice and creamy. Overall, I enjoyed this a lot. The 7.5% ABV is hidden well.

dont care what anyone says, this beer is awesome. its unique in so many ways. the honey is fresh and local and floral and really flavorful in the beer without being sweet. the abv is huge for the style, and it makes this a wonderful 6pack for the price under 8 bucks. its also got a really smooth and creamy body for a wheat beer, bigger and bolder, more round, and all without sacrificing drinkability because the carbonation level is large and bright. the finish is crisp, with the clover honey profile lingering on for just a second. its like a honey wheat milkshake in some sense, and to me this was an unexpected treasure from a state that i didnt think did much clever beer. i like everything about this, and i encourage all who have never tried it to seek it out, and i suggest those who didnt think it was all that, to give it another shot with an open mind. i was just really impressed by this beer for so many reasons.

Thunderhead Golden Frau Honey Wheat
Can from Whole Foods Omaha, $1.69
No apparent freshness dating

Notes: Golden. OK head & retention. Minimal aroma: sweetish malt & weizen character. Flavor: sweetish but not overdone. Distinct wheat but not honey. OK. Some actual yeast flavor (not much) and mild Bavarian yeast character. Balanced. Nice. Easy to drink with some character.
