The Anderson's, as many have mentioned is a "general" store, meaning they sell all sorts of things, not just beer. I am however, focusing on the beer.
A: The atmosphere is superb, lots of chatter throughout.
S: The service is outstanding. It really doesn't get any better. The majority of the beer/wine staff really knows their stuff. A few are up and comers that are still learning. They are beer/wine people and are there to help.
S: The selection is the best in NW Ohio. While people will complain or comment about the other Anderson store's in NW Ohio, they're going to be generally the same. (Same distributors) Limited releases can be few and far between if you're not a regular. However, if you are, you'll be treated right, as expected.
F: The food selection overall isn't vast. However they do have an above average meat and cheese departments.
V: Beer is reasonably priced and in line with other places throughout the city.
O: Overall, this is THE only story I buy beer from in NW Ohio. If you've been underwhelmed by the selection, you're either doing it wrong or came in on a off night. It's a large store, the beer is there, but it does go fast. Don't hesitate to ask for something to be held back, but be realistic.

Another one of my usual go-to places when I travel for work. Good selection of beer, domestic and import. Friendly, helpful service. Only drawback is a slim selection of chilled bombers, almost everything cold is 12 oz bottles/cans. Aside from that, there is an extremely large selection of brews from which you can build your own 6 pack.
Imports include some hard to find belgian, like Fantome. Large selection of Michigan micros and local favorites. Prices are very reasonable and in line with local standards.

The Anderson's is not a 'Big Box Store' or a 'Chain'. It is, as its name suggests, a general store. Locally owned and operated, the store is situated just across the street from the families' grain operation.True one can purchase building supplies, tools, work wear, major appliances, trees and ornamental plants, as well as general goods, The Market is the main focus here.
The Marketplace has grown from a basic sort of grocery into a Mecca for quality Deli goods, gourmet coffees, an excellent meat market, and extensive wine shop. Then of course the reason we're here, BEER! Far and away the regions best selection and as this is widely known, product turnover is very good(this to me is what sets it apart from some well stocked carry-outs or Party stores). I would estimate 300+ imports, domestics, micro-brews, craft brews, and seasonal offerings. Most of these offered in singles, but also a great cold selection (including a beer cave), growers and mini kegs also available. Usually staffed by a beer and wine guru, able to answer questions or special order something for you.
If your from here, I'm sure you already know, if your passing through, definitely worth a stop in.

If you're looking for the best selection in NW Ohio, you really have to go to any of the Andersons. Not only are they a great general store with one of the best deli/meat/produce sections you'll find anywhere, but they have more beers than any other place in the Toledo area, all at great prices. The staff are fairly knowledgeable - perhaps not as much so as a dedicated "beer guy" at a bottle shop, but enough to point you in the right direction. If you're looking for some of the best brews distributed to Ohio, look no further.

There's not all that much to say given that I've rated The Andersons both in Toledo and in Sylvania. For some reason, this is the only chain massive everything store that carries the selection of beers that it does. The only places I can go for this kind of selection are Marino's in Sylvania or another Andersons. As with the others, the selection is very large and a lot of it is of the highest quality. I can get plenty of fantastic beers and still come back for more I haven't tried. There are a few things they don't always have, but they're usually pretty willing to order something. Whoever's working there, while not always easy to find, is always helpful.

I love this place...love it! Situated in my hometown, The Anderson's has a bit of everything...and their beer selection is one of the best. They are always changing, bringing in new stuff, and cycling out the old. They have some rare things, new things, and run-of-the-mill things, which all add to the incredible selection at this place. Every time I go home I make sure to hit Anderson's up at least once.
Many years ago, when I was first getting in to craft beer, I stopped in before leaving town for a Neil Young concert in Columbus. I was interested in IPAs, but was still new and exploring the variety. At the time, Three Floyds was still distributing to Ohio. When I asked the wine/beer employee what the best IPA he had in stock was, he directed me to Three Floyds' Alpha King. From that moment, my perspective on beer took a decisive turn.
This place has it all. The service is exceptional, the selection is great, and the atmosphere is welcoming and exploratory. If you are in the Lucas County area, you have got to check this place out. On my recent visit, I picked up some Stone Levitation, Bells' Two Hearted, Bear Republic Racer 5, and some Gulden Draak. This is also the same place that I discovered Thomas Hardy's Ale and some wonderful Jolly Pumpkin ales.
Anderson's also carries some specialty glasses, and the selection changes every time I visit. During the holidays and season changes, there is always a large section that features beers to memorialize the occasion. I love going there around Christmas because they always have a huge display of every type of Holiday ale they can get their hands on.
Aside from being a superb local store for everything from dog food to ceiling fans to popcorn poppers (which I have picked up for home coffee roasting) to local produce, they have one of the best beer selections around the area.
If you are in town, do yourself a favor and check them out.

The Andersons in Maumee is like the little brother of The Andersons in Toledo. At least beer wise. This store has a huge selection of beers in 6 packs, 4 packs, bombers, and single 12 oz. I go to this store more than the Toledo one because it's closer to me, but the toledo one has a lot bigger selection of single 12 oz bottles. However, these two are definitely the best store in the area for buying beer. I usually spend 2-3 days a week here browsing the beer aisles and spending more money than I should be on their beer selection. If you're in the area, you need to check this place out! The price is also very reasonable, I haven't seen anything here that is higher than anywhere else. The Anderson's is a fantastic place for beer!

During a family visit, I had to check out Andersons.
Quality: The store is clean and the beer aisles are orderly. There is some rhyme and a bit of reason in the organization, with domestics occupying two aisles, the Belgians an end unit and the English and German offerings on a separate aisle.
Service: Service at check-out was pleasant if not slow (we had to have someone over 18 check us out due to state law), but I can't hold compliance with the law against them.
Selection: Great selection. Lots of Bell's, Founders, Great Lakes and Stoudts (even in NW Ohio, Stoudt's rules) dot the aisles. I went with Fuego de Otono and Noel de Calabaza, Avery Fifteen, some Bell's that doesn't make it to Central PA, a sixer of Red's Rye and a Great Lakes variety 1/2 case. Pretty nice haul for a little place.

a "general" store that has been around for some time now. a place to go get a lawnmower, grass seed, and craft beer. the selection was very good, excellent variety. a lot more kegs than i expected. some employees around and they were willing to offer assistance in finding brands and or types. good selection of Bell's, 3F, Great Lakes, as well as plenty of imports. and they were reasonable in their prices as well.
certainly a place that i will be willing to visit again. it is also easy to get to and not far from me.
suckem up and movem out.

Anderson's General Store rocks. I drive 1 1/2 hours just to get my fill of brews, like a kid in a candy store. The selection includes Bells, Stones, Rouges, DFH, Three Floyd, all sorts of Imports, Trappistes Rochefort, Great Lakes, some Alesmith and so on. If you live fairly close, visit this place, it will not disappoint. The service is outstanding. The two gentlemen that work there have lots of knowledge and will even make special order for you. The prices are very reasonable, unlike some other place that charge an arm and a leg. Thanks Anderson's.
