12 oz from Kinney Drug Store.
Pours into a clear amber body with a thick, off-white, foam head that holds for a reasonable duration.
Smell advertises toasty malts. Caramel and hops. Hop aroma's not too complex or forthcoming... it smells green or grassy (thank you Venom for the vocabulary).
Kind of dry taste without the expected malt punch. Sweetness trumps any notion of roasty or toasty. Sugars remain in my mouth, kind of ruining the finish. Where's the hops?
I can't lie: I really enjoyed my first bottle of 1812, but the second got a little monotonous. If you drink it with your nose (that makes sense in my head) it's a much more enjoyable brew. However, I want a cleaner finish from my APAs and a better hop/malt balance. Maybe a better quality/variety of hops could render a stronger performance.

a not quite amber pale ale. pours as average as can be, clear golden with only a hint of red color to it, small head. smells malty and boring, and the taste is similar, but with some sort of sour finish, almost like a weaker version of a flemish sour at the end. not unpleasant at all, but it doesnt belong in this beer. its got decent drinkability but it isnt exciting enough for me to want to drink all night.
