Sackets Harbor Thousand Island Pale Ale
12oz. brown bottle
A: snifter. pours a good light copper color with a nice white head on top. moderate retention rate. very faint lacing.
S: very light aroma. some grassy tones along with a hint of metal. not much of a hop aroma, but it is there way in the back of the nose.
T: nice, surprisingly rich flavor compared to the aroma. good malt backdrop, some caramel in there as well. nice bittering hops, but I get some metallic flavors as well.
M: medium body. mild carbonation. rather clean and crisp.
D: A good APA, just some off flavors to me, but it could be the version of hops. Good session beer.

This pale ale is on the darker side of the spectrum for the style, a dark orange that's mostly transparent. A slightly tinted head begins sticky and big-bubbled, lowering casually to foam and sticking some good legging down.
Caramel and pith work in tandem on the nose as with a heavy must/earth coming out over time.
Hops are heavier in the flavor, with big resinous/stemmy bitter pith notes running all the way through as balance is lost somewhat.
This beer is crisp, starting off medium sweet/dry, and as the bitterness hits the back of the throat it builds up dryness. It remains crisp all the way through and smooths out at the end. All in all, it's a little strong on the abrasion and pith.
