Picked up a bottle of this brew a little bit ago and am sampling it at cellar temp poured into a pint glass.
The beer pours a clear copper color with fluffy orange-white head of 3 cm foaming up and fading gradually leaving large craters as it fades.
Aroma is pretty mild with some light general malt and floral hops. But not a lot going on and difficult to detect.
First sip reveals an average to light body with fine fizzy carbonation, texture is a little watery.
Flavor is general caramel malt for a nanosecond and rolls to a hoppy bitter flavor. Kind of grapefruit rind but also fairly astringent like an aspirin. Not a lot of complex hop flavors, mostly just bitter.
Not the most enjoyable beer unless you like puckering bitey beer with little complexity or body. I wont buy it again.

Sackets makes some wonderful beers but this is not one of them. Of all great beers they make and sell in their brewery why they bottled this one is beyond me. The taste is horrible along with the aftertaste. The only thing saving this beer is it actually has a descent smell and a cool retro label.

Appearance- A bronze too dark for a Pale Ale. Virtually no head.

Smell- Hops a little bit of caramel to the malt odor.

Taste- Too bitter for even an IPA. It almost tasted as if it had gone skunk. There is a horrible aftertaste that just lingers.

Mouthfeel. It was not very carbonated and a little chewy.

Drinkability- One of the worst beers I have ever tried. My sink got more of it then I did. I love Sackets and I am hoping maybe I got a bad batch.

Pours a four finger cream head that fades very slowly leaving a good lace. Clear amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Piney hop nose. Flavor is typical pale ale, piney hops, bitter. Lingering bitter aftertaste. $1.55 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA.

I poured this beer into a classic Pint glass and as greeted with a two finger foamy head. The Copper color had a slight haze and the beer also had a slight floral aroma.

Not a huge fan to be honest.

I thought the taste was very out of balance and this was an overly sweet beer for a Pale Ale.

There was a sweet Malty initial taste that was somewhat spicy. This transitioned to an understated spicy hop bite that faded very quickly.

The beer had heavy lacing as it was consumed and a medium mouth feel.

I am left with two short comments

Too sweet.
Not very balanced.

There is better beer to drink in this world.

12 oz. bottle poured into a nonic.

Pours a super clear bleached copper with a one finger off-white head that dies down to a thin layer. Stickiness is decent actually, with a thick cling on the sides. Smell includes dry malt with a unique seaweed odor. For an APA, where are the hops in the nose? Taste is pretty disappointing as well. Dry corn stalk flavor with a sour pine taste. Too funky for the tongue to enjoy. Some chalk like flavors in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is a clean medium body with a mild amount of carbonation. I won't have this beer again, I coulda swore this beer would have been better than this. Not one to look for.

A- Golden orange color. little to no head.

S- Smells grainy, with a hint of bitter hops.

T- Sweet, with very bitter herbal hops. Sort of weird, spicy malt taste. bitter aftertaste.

M- Heavy carbonation. has a sort of smooth, buttery mouthfeel.

D- Not sure about that flavor. its just a little weird. Perhaps its just too bitter and poorly balanced? Not one of my favorites.

Appearance: Pours a hazy amber color with a modest head that descends to a ringlet and archipelago, but leaves more than a few dots of lace

Smell: Quite an unusual aroma, somewhat akin to butter rum, although not exactly - sweet and malty, with an herbacious hop element

Taste: Starts out sweet and then turns herbaciously bitter, by mid-palate; after the swallow, the unusual bitter flavors give way to the sweeter malts but the flavors never really come together

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Drinkability: A very unusual concoction but not one that is particularly enticing

My first of this newer brewery, on cask at Clark's Ale House real ale fest. There was noticeable carbonation in this one, which was unexpected from a fresh cask, bubbles on the top and throughout. C-hop aroma. A few sips, but not entirely finishable which is not my usual treatment of a cask ale.

Got the beer through a beer of the month club. Poured into a pint glass.

Color is a yellow orange fall leaf color. Eggshell head that goes away rather quick.

Smells is of malt immediately and then faint hop aroma.

Decent taste. Heavy pine, slightly medicinal. Not overly hopped for an IPA. Not for the hop heads for sure. Like the 1812 Amber, I don't think its bad, its just not good.

had a bottle before dinner at Craft in NYC.
Poured a Golden Amber with no head, just some small suds laying on the surface.

buscuity malts with a touch of floral hops, some honey and a bit of caramel

Very malty beer with a bitter bitter finish. The hops are super powerful but are very blunt, and monochromatic there is not much depth to the hop flavor. A little bit of pine.

Medium body, adequate carbonation.

A pretty average beer, not awful at all, but there are many many other pale ales I'd reach for first before going for a Thousand Islands again

Very pale orange with a thin but sticky eggshell-colored head.

Tea-like aroma, slightly peppery.

Taste is a bit unrefined. There's a big upfront swat of leafy, astringent, slightly bitter hops with no sweetness to temper it. Stays dry and finishes with another hint of pepper; malt fails to uphold its end of the bargain.

I didn't really enjoy this beer much, it seemed to push all the wrong buttons.

This brew looks marvelous. Large white head that fades slightly to leave icebergs of foam floating around. So many rings of lace it's like a white out inside the glass. The liquid itself is a lightly cloudy translucent honey color. I don't know that a pale ale can look better.

Smell is faint wheat and lemon.

Very highly hopped with herbal, bitter hops. Some sweet malt becomes more present as the beer warms and the bitterness recedes. Starts out bitter, end up sweet...wierd.

Somewhat cloudy amber body with a white fluffy head that fell leaving some on the edges of the glass and around the rim. The aroma isn't bad at all. There is a bit of hop aroma in front of some malt, but they are both rather subdued. It is malty at first and ends rather bitter but there isn't much hop flavor in there. The bitter aftertaste lasts a while. The body is on the lighter end of medium. The bitterness greatly detracts from the drinkability.

A-Pours a light copper with a pillowy white head. An inviting stream of bubbles keeps it at a nice level and the lacing is good.

S-yeasty biscuits followed by a mellow floral hop bitterness.

T-Biscuits, biscuits and some more biscuits. The biscuit dominates this beer and the hop is relegated to the back. Slight floral hoppiness comes through in the finish but not enough to compete with the dominance of the malt. The malt part is tasty enough to not make this a bad beer but it needs more hops.

M-Appropriate for the style, slightly above medium body with an above avergae carbonation.

D-This is a dcecent beer, not one I would go out of my way for again. Run of the mill APA, though i have to say it is a good looking beer.

Got this in a locals for locals trade with orcasteve-

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

A- Light copper color with haze (chill haze???) Little head with almost no lacing.

S- Floral hops are evident. There is also a malty body lurking in there too...

T- Very bitter hops at first. Strange, since the smell was giving me a floral bitterness- the taste has little to no floral attributes. When the malt comes around and attempts to balance the bitters I find myself getting some strange flavors. I don't know if I am a big fan.

M- I can certainly tell there is carbonation in this one- regardless of the fact that it is not visible. The beer is light and easy to drink

D- Not bad- I don't know if I am a fan of the flavor yet though.

A- Golden copper color, slightly cloudy, thin lacy white head, many small carbonation bubbles rising throughout

S- Pale malts, biscuits, hint of hops, slight metallic smell

T- Bitter hops, flowery, bready, toasted malts, yeast, pine

M- Medium weight, medium carbonation, crisp, bitter bite

D- Not too bad, but not a favorite

This auroma of this beer really fools you a bit. It smells mostly malty but tastes mostly hoppy.

Sackets Harbor Thousand Islands Pale Ale is a cloudy amber ale with lots of small particles in it. The thin, blotchy white head leaves nice lacing. It has a sweet caramel aroma with a note of wooden hops. It's pretty light bodied and very lively. It leaves the mouth gritty and numb. It's a bit sweet like caramel. It has a light to moderate bitterness that's resiny and wooden. There's nothing wrong with this. It's not very refreshing for a pale ale. It would be interesting to see what this beer would be like if all the ingredients were doubled.

Pours a golden raisin color leaving a thin....actually no head. The aroma is caramel, spicy hops, brisk and sweet. The taste on the palate is bitter upfront, balanced with a small sweetness of honey then back to a citrus rind bitterness.

Overall this is nice and hoppy but too much for a pale ale the hops are a bit strong for a APA really on the lines of a IPA. I look for more balance in my pale ales but this is still a good beer.

Sackets Harbor Thousand Island Pale Ale
12oz. brown bottle

A: snifter. pours a good light copper color with a nice white head on top. moderate retention rate. very faint lacing.

S: very light aroma. some grassy tones along with a hint of metal. not much of a hop aroma, but it is there way in the back of the nose.

T: nice, surprisingly rich flavor compared to the aroma. good malt backdrop, some caramel in there as well. nice bittering hops, but I get some metallic flavors as well.

M: medium body. mild carbonation. rather clean and crisp.

D: A good APA, just some off flavors to me, but it could be the version of hops. Good session beer.
