330ml bottle, poured into Leffe Chalice, pale colour, small fading head, some lacing retained. Aroma was seemed to be Spalt and Tettnang hop, detected some fruit. Tasted very fruity for a Pils, notes of Tomato pickle along with what I thought was Tettnang and Spalt hop, some gummi bear. Saves the bitterness for the finish which also brings some sour dough with it. Texture is thin, well carbonated, slightly coarse. I thought it held up very well compared to North German Pils style beers, as it was nowhere near as harsh and had more depth.

Pale golden-straw with brilliant clarity capped by dense white head that remains.

Nose is mild with lightly grainy Pils malt and floral hop-aroma. I pick up a good amount of green apple and cidery notes presumably from Acetaldehyde, i.e., a yeast byproduct.

Flavor is grainy Pils malt and light apple juiciness that both get dominated by hop-bitterness lasting throughout the medium-dry finish.

Medium light and oily-coating mouthfeel with medium carbonation.

In short, a plain German Pilsener with apple quality indicating a bit premature beer that hits the spot nonetheless. Still, I have no idea what puts this beer atop of the others of the style.

A - Clear, champaign gold body. Foamy white head with ok retention and lace.

S - Nice soft, well rounded nose. Surprisingly fruity. Dry white grape, papaya, bread crust.

T - Mellon, white bread, a touch of green plant bitterness.

M - Light body with moderate-to-light carbonation.

O - Surprisingly tropical for a pilsner, but the sweetness hooks up unbelievably well fresh german brats.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that died down a bit but consistently left a thin head covering the surface.
S: There are light aromas of bready malts in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste has flavors of bready malts along with notes of grassy hops and a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is a solid and well-balanced pilsner that is very easy to drink. It is a good way to open up a meal.

look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: It pours a crystal-clear straw colored body with a one finger head. Retention is good.

Smell: Sweet malts and grass come to mind. There are some lemon notes in the aroma as the beer warms.

Taste: It taste like a stereotypical "good" Pilsener. Sweet malts are noticed early followed by a moderate hop bite. This beer is not complex at all but it does represent the style well. The hops become gradually more pronounced as the beer warms.

Mouth feel: It is light bodied but crisp, not "watery" at all. The beer is easy to drink, just like a good Pils should be.

Overall: German Pilsener's are by nature not too complex in my opinion but this is one of the better representatives of the style.

330ml bottle 5,1% Abv.
Served chilled in an over sized wine glass.
Best before: 18/12/2012

Appearance: Light golden body (crystal clear), topped by a large white head. The head displays good retention and leaves some patchy lace.

Smell: There is not as much hop character as I expected, but I guess that is as a result of the age of the bottle. That said, the nose is more than solid. Notes include: Grassy noble hops, pale grain, an earthy note and a touch of pale fruit.

Taste: Mmmm, this is certainly a delicious pilsner - grassy hops and pale grain dominate, with a light herbal character and some sweetness also being noted. The finish is lightly dry and fairly bitter.

Mouthfeel: Light (or just over) bodied, with fantastic carbonation - high level and initially quite smooth with a crisp finish.

Overall: This is easily the best pilsner I have had - it is not all that complex, but it very clean and highly drinkable.

poured from a .33l bottle into a tulip glass.

pours a very clear, yellowish gold like color with a small 1 finger soapy white head that leaves nice lacing.

Aroma is very delicate but very intricate as well. really takes time to appreciate this one. initially there is a cereal like grain sweetness, then it lends itself to lemon pith and an herbal tea like finish.

taste is very very good. this is a nice example of the style that gets flooded with over hopped american versions that really are just hoppy lagers calling themselves. Delicate yet focused flavors of lightly toasted white bread, sesame seeds and some grassy light hops come through. A touch of bitterness balances the light malty backbone,

Mouthfeel is nice and crisp, with good acidity that is refreshing and focused. Only problem is that this is slightly thin for me and could use more carbonation to give it more body.

Overall this beer is a must grab if you are into the style. If you are looking for a huge DIPA or a RIS then shy away from this beer. But, true to style and a great summer beer, this beer is a must for anyone who enjoys this type of beer. Nothing mind blowing at all just extremely balanced and well made.

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a pale yellow colour with some lacing and a small head.

Smells quite average, slight hops and a generic lagery smell.

Tastes also average, like a bland lager with slightly more hops added giving it some tang.

Overall not much different from the Tsingtao I had earlier. Refreshing and nice but I dont see what the fuss is all about.

Gorgeous deep soft sweet doughy nose in the bottle to start. Poured, it has a very pale ginger ale like sparkle to the eye. A number of swirly wirly beading tornadoes throughout supporting a big rocky pure white glossy head. Frothy lacing webbed around the glass as well.

Soft then firm dry clean taste with a slightly herbally long bitter finish. Structurally this lifts up everything effortlessly yet is so supple and lean at the same time.

The brewer's skill is just stunning. No special barrels, no bucket loads of exotic ingredients or hops and no double digit ABV. Just simple and easy to appreciate but with more susbtance than you'd find in all the craft beer pilsner wannabes stacked together. Love it. Everything a world class pilsner should be and more.

Large white head. Crisp clear light golden body.

Very aromatic for a pilsener. Tons of the earthy pilsener malt aroma. Grassy lemon zest noble hop profile.

Slightly sweet malty cereal flavor. Nice light spice and herbal slightly piny hop bitterness give a nice crisp finish.

Light very effervecent. Easy drinking and tasty brew. Surprisingly complex for a pilsener.
