Appearance: Golden, clear body with a small head that dissipates quickly

Aroma: malty; hoppy

Taste: I didn't care for this beer. It was very bitter overall. I didn't find it well balanced at all

Remarks: Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

Serving: 330mL bottle, poured into various glasses
Served: Many times between March-July 2012

Appearance: A clear, yellow. Light, but not as light as some AALs. Definitely looks like a pilsner because of the lighter roasted malts used.

Smell: Smells 'beer-y', clean, fresh. A little hint of hops somewhere in there.

Taste: Wow! You might not be able to really smell hoppiness at all, but it is in there. This is one very refreshing beer- the lighter body from the light malts is really played well with the hops you taste on the back end. This is no hop bomb and pales in comparison to American beers with hops, so don't go into this expecting some floral hop-bomb. It's substantially more subtle than that, but they are still there. The beer also tastes crisp and clean. The hoppy notes on the back let it clean up well and invite another sip. Tastes 'dry' in the wine sense.

Mouthfeel: Very nicely carbonated for the style. Refreshing.

Overall: A fantastic beer. One of the major beers of the Hochschwarzwald region (the other being Fürstenberg, and one of the three major beers of Freiburg (others: Fürstenberg, Ganter), and easily bests both of these. This beer has a strong cult following in the Black Forest region. If you're in the area, definitely check it out. I can't speak, however, to on-tap or bottled varieties purchased in Northern Germany or England, where they also distribute.

A great German pilsner. Comparable in taste to Alpirsbacher, another notably hoppy German pils. Definitely a sessionable beer.

Transparent gold and a nice full fluffy head. Leaves some good lacing on the way down and maintains a little foam on top.
Smells of sweet simple pilsner malt. Smooth and inviting, but with just a touch of noble hops. Nice, but I thought a pils was supposed to have a more spicy nose.
Smooth, smooth, smooth. Full, rounded flavor; lots of that simple but wonderful pils flavor with a touch of spice thrown in the middle and a little more in the back. A slight bitterness lingers on the tongue.
Lightly carbonated.
Simple and light enough to drink all day, complex enough to keep it interesting, and not so bitter that it wears you out.
A gooood pils.

330ml bottle, poured into Leffe Chalice, pale colour, small fading head, some lacing retained. Aroma was seemed to be Spalt and Tettnang hop, detected some fruit. Tasted very fruity for a Pils, notes of Tomato pickle along with what I thought was Tettnang and Spalt hop, some gummi bear. Saves the bitterness for the finish which also brings some sour dough with it. Texture is thin, well carbonated, slightly coarse. I thought it held up very well compared to North German Pils style beers, as it was nowhere near as harsh and had more depth.

Pale golden-straw with brilliant clarity capped by dense white head that remains.

Nose is mild with lightly grainy Pils malt and floral hop-aroma. I pick up a good amount of green apple and cidery notes presumably from Acetaldehyde, i.e., a yeast byproduct.

Flavor is grainy Pils malt and light apple juiciness that both get dominated by hop-bitterness lasting throughout the medium-dry finish.

Medium light and oily-coating mouthfeel with medium carbonation.

In short, a plain German Pilsener with apple quality indicating a bit premature beer that hits the spot nonetheless. Still, I have no idea what puts this beer atop of the others of the style.

A - Clear, champaign gold body. Foamy white head with ok retention and lace.

S - Nice soft, well rounded nose. Surprisingly fruity. Dry white grape, papaya, bread crust.

T - Mellon, white bread, a touch of green plant bitterness.

M - Light body with moderate-to-light carbonation.

O - Surprisingly tropical for a pilsner, but the sweetness hooks up unbelievably well fresh german brats.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that died down a bit but consistently left a thin head covering the surface.
S: There are light aromas of bready malts in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste has flavors of bready malts along with notes of grassy hops and a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is a solid and well-balanced pilsner that is very easy to drink. It is a good way to open up a meal.

Appearance: It pours a crystal-clear straw colored body with a one finger head. Retention is good.

Smell: Sweet malts and grass come to mind. There are some lemon notes in the aroma as the beer warms.

Taste: It taste like a stereotypical "good" Pilsener. Sweet malts are noticed early followed by a moderate hop bite. This beer is not complex at all but it does represent the style well. The hops become gradually more pronounced as the beer warms.

Mouth feel: It is light bodied but crisp, not "watery" at all. The beer is easy to drink, just like a good Pils should be.

Overall: German Pilsener's are by nature not too complex in my opinion but this is one of the better representatives of the style.
