Looks as a pilsner should look: clear golden yellow with a nice foamy head that dissipates on the way down.

Not much to the nose slight biscuity malt and grassy hop, this follows through to the palate but is greatly amplified. A really grassy hoppy pilsner - bitter but not overdone (like a Jever). A classic example of a pilsner.

Prickly and dry, I could drink these all day long. So schmeckt der Sommer.

This beer is the real deal!! I grew up in the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg and got to love this beer. The Tannenzaepfle is the best example of a Southern German Pilsner. It comes in a 0.33l bottle is a beer like no other. It is brewed in the high mountains of the Black Forest with fresh spring water. The appearances is this of a true pils and the beer also maintains its head after pouring into a glass. The flavor is somewhere between bitter, fruity, etc. The hop bitterness of this beer is just right!
This is one of THE beer of the Southwestern part of Germany. Now also available outside Baden-Wuerttemberg because of the high demand, but the company is stays true to its region and maintains a very quality beer! This is one of those threats when you visit family once a year and you just can't get enough of!

A typical German pils and by all outward signs, nothing extraordinary. Of course the hops are the key here and they come through - spicy, fresh and strong. There is, however, enough malt backbone to make my girlfriend say that my kisses tasted like dough afterwards. The carbonation is not over the top, but still gives a crisp clean finish just like one would expect from a good pils. One of the best Pilseners in Germany.

Nicknamed "zäpfle" it is one of the kult beers for pils-snobs.

A: beautiful golden color, nice carbonation, and well appearing head.

S: very fresh with some grass/earthy note which makes you think about some hops like tettnanger being used.

T: very smooth with well balanced amount of bitterness and body.

M: well composed pilsner which welcomes you with a refreshing taste and leads to some bitterness combined with some hops and carbonation - great mouthfeel.

D: They come in grades/boxes of 24... you better get one for each of your friends; if you don't like to share a very drinkable beer.

"Kult" beer, usually consumed directly from the bottle. The "pride of the black forest"! Same beer as the PILS in 50cl bottles. Very hoppy, high drinkability. you can't go home after just one bottle! Rarely to be found outside the southwest of Germany. It's so good, the locals don't export it but drink it themselves! Cheers

Perhaps the best pils I have ever had. It pours an incredibly pale yellow, and is as clear and bright of a beer you are ever going to see. Nice stable head, and a beautiful floral nose. The taste is fabulous - very crisp hop bite, but definitely not overpowering. Each one you have begs for another.

330 ml bottle poured into appropriate German style stemmed beer glass. Nice 3/4" head, and golden color.
This is an excellent example of German pilsener; near perfect ballance of hops and malt, bright golden color, smooth taste and mouthfeel. I could drink these all day.

These are available in most REAL stores in central and western Germany as wall as most Getrankemarktes.

Is the same beer as the Rothaus Pils.

Very light hay color. White fleeting head.

Smells of hay and light citrus.

Taste is fairly bitter but the grain is still forward. Body is medium and lingering bitterness. Kinda prickly.

Very refreshing. I could and will drink these all day. Would love to have this in the US.
