I FINALLY made my way to Dressels. I was quite impressed with how authentic this place is when compared to the British pubs. It was quite nice and quiet where I could hold a conversation and not have to talk over other people and background music. I have heard it was pricey however I did not feel it was that bad. My double veggie burger was $7 and my cask O'Fallon IPA's were $4.50. Not too shabby. I guess everyone can bring your food or drink so some items came quicker than others, but nothing I would complain about. A very comfortable place. I do plan on returning.

Dressel’s is located on Euclid in the Central West End, a great neighborhood to walk around. The bar is in a really nice, wood-and-brick, warm, homey room, and there is a side main dining room. The service is friendly, though not particularly beer-knowledgeable from what I could tell. The beer selection is good, with about a dozen taps and a few dozen bottles. They had one cask, O’Fallon 5-Day IPA, when I visited. Other taps included 3 New Belgium (including one Lips of Faith), Bell’s Expedition Stout, Left Hand, Boulevard, Odell, Guinness, Strongbow, and a few other local and regional things. The food was pretty good, albeit nothing too special. This was a nice place to stop in on a cold day, warm up, have a couple beers and food.

We go here all the time, so I've seen the good and bad of Dressel's, but it's mostly good.

The good starts with the atmosphere. The original restaurant really feels like you're in the UK. They added on a lot more space that doesn't have the same feel, but doesn't detract. A nice sized patio as well.

The only bad is the service. It can be spotty. Everybody is covering all tables, so sometimes a table can be forgotten.

The beer selection is pretty good. About 12 taps, that rotate a little, and they always have an O'Fallon IPA cask. Prices are reasonable for the area.

The food is good as well. Always an interesting special of the day, and the every day meals, such as the burger, are solid. Highly recommend starting the meal with chips and rarebit. Or if you just want a snack, the pretzel & rarebit is great.

Check http://stlhops.com/beer-lists/ for a somewhat recent taplist.

"Where food loves drink... and life and art embrace".

The exterior featured a raised platform ringed by an iron railing for outdoor seating. The entryway was in an inverted triangle shape with an outwardly bowed window that ran from floor to ceiling to the right of the doorway. Just inside the door was the long, tile-topped, race track oval-shaped bar with shelves in the overhead for both their liquors as well as busts of famous composers.

Speaking of which, the right wall, facing aft, featured caricatures of classical composers. A snug in the right/center was dedicated to jazz. On the left wall, it began with a salute to Wales and their incredible Welsh language. May I buy a vowel, please? That quickly segued into caricatures of writers and poets, including Ginsburg, Papa Hem, and Faulkner.

A set of steps on the left led up to The Pub Above, a separate meeting area with its own short bar; a working fireplace (!); a game room with a billiards table and two English dart boards; plus a killer view of the street below.

Beer: Twelve (12): Double Dragon Bitter; D. D. Extra Bitter; O'Fallon 5-Day IPA; Sam Adams Seasonal (Winter Ale); Fat Tire; Tuchor Hefeweizen; Delirium Tremens; Fullers London Porter; Maudite; Stells; Strongbow Cider.

Cask: 5-Day IPA (when available).
