A - Dark hazy amber with about a finger head which slowly fades leaving nice lacing.
S - Pine and citrus mostly with nice malty background.
T - Pine upfront which then transitions to a nice caramel sweetness. Ends with nice bitterness.
M- Low to Moderate carbonation with a light to medium body.
O - This is a nice American IPA which has a little more emphasis on the caramel sweetness but is well balanced.

330ml bottle poured into pint glass 7/4/14

A very hazy brownish amber with just a thick film after a dump down the middle, not much retention but manages to leave lots of lace around the top of the glass

S some orange marmalade and a hint of spruce but for the most part its a caramel bomb, butterscotch, hot Sunday caramel topping, might be diacetyl? either way not really smelling like an IPA

T more of the same really, some citrus and pine but for the most part its caramel and butterscotch all the way

M thick a syrupy, a little flat, no booze at all, a little oily after the fact, caramel and some orange rind on the finish

O no bottle date so this could be an old bottle but I have no way tell, either way its not one I'd bother with again

I bought this one because of its placement on the best of OZ list and its a bit of a let down. Perhaps a bad batch/bottle/old? not undrinkable but not very IPAish

On tap at the Brewery.

A: Served amhazy dark copper color with a good head that fades slowly with nice lacing.

S: Aroma of pine and citrus, some caramel and bit of grain in the background.

T: Taste has an initial nip of pine, then some caramel sweetness with some grain. Nice bitterness throughout and a dry finish.

F: Medium body, crisp, smooth and refreshing. Nicely balanced.

O: An enjoyable beer, a nice Australian IPA. good for a few.

Bottle from Purvis in Melbourne. From notes.

A - Poured a cloudy dark copper with one finger of white head, decent carbonation and a spot of lace with a film of retention.

S - Tropical fruits, citrus, maybe tangerine.

T - Topical fruit, juicy hops, some rich toffee as well. A little rough with the hops being mashed together as opposed to flowing nicely if that makes sense.

M - Good carbonation, medium to full body and a sweetness then bitter finish.

O/D - Not bad. Not exactly exciting either. Maybe dumbing down the booze and mellowing out the flavours would improve this. Still a fairly decent IPA.

330ml bottle dumped into a goblet...

A- nice amber/brown color. Not much od a head, even with pouring it quickly down the middle. if you like good head retention, you've got the wrong beer.

S- caramel and brown sugar with some hops. There is also a hint of chocolate in there.

T- the hops hit immediately, followed by a bit of chocolate and a sweet, citrusie bitterness. Perhaps a tad too much on the bitter side for my taste, however, this is a nice beer.

O- I am all on board with this beer, less the bitterness. I like bitter beer, but this bitterness linger a bit more tha I care for. Otherwise it's very drinkable with good body and complexity.

Jamieson Beast IPA is dominated by maltiness and tastes strongly of caramel. Not enough hop character for my liking, although I'm not sure how fresh this was.

A: Clear orange colour and a good 2 cm head that lasts well. 4.5

S: Some floral hops aroma. Not super strong. Some hints of sweet malt. 4

T: Strong roasty malt flavour. Quite sweet with strong caramel flavour. I taste bitterness, but where is the hop flavour? 3

M: Quite foamy. 4

Bit of aniseed on the nose, maybe some candy. But not much in the way of hopiness. Appearance red-copper with a slight haze. Some chewy malt, toffee and a heavy handed bitterness. But not much else except that Liquorice, slightly metallic (fishermans friend) medicinal flavour.

A - Disappointing on the pour. Zero head, just a flimsy little white ring. Dark amber in the body and a few spots of lace around the glass.

S - Caramel, cake, pine, booze. Sweet and beckoning.

T - Rich, sweet, sticky and hot. Caramel, toffee and honey. Very malty. Is tasty but is this an IPA?

M - Syrupy and thick in the mouth, moderately carbonated.

O - A big, sweet and syrupy beer. I wouldnt class this an AIPA as it is seriously overbalanced on the malt.

Pours two fingers, opaque copper/gold. Dense head. Good lacing

Aromas of citrus / pine, a little pineapple.

Taste is restrained, balanced, and not too bitter. Citrus, pine, and hop notes, in a nice hybrid style.

Mouthfeel a little thin

Overall – well made. I’m not an IPA man but I like the subltety here. Could drink more than one of these.

Got a bottle of this from MrKennedy in a trade, the Beast pours out as a deep murky copper color with quick fading head at first. The only thing left is a little tan ring around the glass. The smell is a little earthy and hoppy at the same time. It actually reminds me of some barley wines I've had over the course of time. The taste give off the hoppy barley wine flavor as well. I think it could compare this to Sierra Nevada's Bigfoot. The mouthfeel is on the thinker side as well. It's a pretty good beer overall.

Not sure why I don’t have a note on this one? No doubt this a power style. Masses of sweet hop and marginally less malt impact. Very complete mouthfull right the palate although the sweet heavy weight of the flavour can be a turnoff if you were drinking pot after pot of the stuff. Crap note but I’ll reassess soon. Heaps better on tap. ($5.30 @ Local Taphouse Balaclava)

This beer should get a five based on the label alone.

A - Pours a hazy orange-umber, and is capped with a short-lived off-white cap.

S - The nose offers notes of citrus and biscuity malt, in equal proportions.

T - Taste is somewhat sweet, with malt leading the way; hop bitterness is fairly low, with grapefruit, general citrus and grassy tones present.

M - IPA. Okay.

O - It is a pretty easy drinking brew. Though not great, I easily crushed my half of the bottle in a minute or two.

Thanks to maneliquor

A - Murky dark orange-brown body. Finger of white foam that settles to a thin cap and a slightly thicker collar. A few spots of lace.

S - Oranges, light tropical notes, some grass, sweet malts, burnt sugars, a bit of bread.

T - Taste is very juicy - lots of tangerine and orange. Some bread and caramel malt. Light bitterness.

M - Very dry, with a juice-like finish. Medium carbonation, medium body. Pleasant enough. Some residual oils and resins.

D - I killed half the bottle in minutes. Really drinkable and refreshing. It's a pretty average IPA, but there's no real problems with it either.

Drank from my Stella tulip

A - Pours a slight orage copper colour witha two fingered almost white head that reatins well and laces the glass.

S - Big amounts of Mandarin here this is a fresh brew. Pine and citrus also present

T - Up front the orange mandarin gives off a nice kick, followed by some nice pine hop notes witha nice bitterness on the finish.

M - Medium body with low to medium carbonation.

O - Beats Hop Hog hands down, i'm lucky to have a fresh one. If you see one, buy it.
