Dark, mahogany brown coloring, big, lasting, creamy tan head. Looks great.

Malty nose, lightly spicy, bready. Absolutely inviting. Ooo, la, la.

Taste: Spices hit the palate first, followed by malty flavors, bread-y, biscuit-y. Lean bodied, with a slightly alcoholic bent. Spice and malt flavors meet with hops in the mouth, for a pleasurable menage-a-trois. Tres chic. Voulez-vous avez avec moi, c'est soiree?

Long, spicy finish, from hops and malt. Ever so tasty. Magnifique.

12oz brown bottle with a freshness date.

Deep brassy brown, thin lacing. Smells of leather, brown bread and spicy esters. Deep bready maltiness, toasty with dried hay in the back. Floral and spicy in the middle with some dark fruit and faint broth. Very layered, each sip opens up a new complexity. Dry finish.

Very well done, easy to sip with a ton of flavor that sticks around longer than expected.

Had this on 2014-02-09 in Columbia, PA

A - Fairly clear dark brown with a ruby tinge. 1-finger tan head that fades quickly leaving a bit of lace.

S - Medium roasted malts, dried dark fruit, earthy spice. Reminds me of a Yards Brawler. Nice. Not very strong.

T - Dark molasses, medium roasted grain with a bit of char, dark fruit, nice hop bite, pepper, earthy spice. Finishes with some lingering roasted and hop bitterness with a heavily toasted brown bread (not sweet) malt for balance. Pretty tasty.

M - Medium-heavy body and light-medium carbonation. Substantial. Smooth. Seems right for the style.

O - I enjoyed this. Reminded me of a cross between a Yards Brawler and a good Doppelbock if you can imagine such a thing. I'd have it again.

Got this off tap at Hopcat in East Lansing. Served in a tulip.

A: Pours a deep dark brown color with a ruby tinge. Has a 1/4 inch frothy tan head with small amounts of lacing.

S: Smells of dark fruit, cherries, plums, malts, vanilla, yeast

T: Good, smooth flavor. Sweet up front, good maltiness, yeast. Good fruit profile, cooked plums and cherries.

M: Ample amounts of carbonation, medium bodied, smooth finish, an easy drinker but a little lacking in volume.

O: Overall this was an excellent random pick and the pricing was quite reasonable. My first brew from Minnesota.

Tasted 5 December 2013, reviewed from notes.

Pours a deep rusty brown, clear at the edges but dark enough that it's not see-through. One finger of light yellowish-tan head. Good retention, decent lacing.

Smell is toasty and mildly herbal. Has a pleasant contrast between the biscuity warmth and the gentle green herbal bite. Nice.

Taste is fine, though I find it a tad dull. It's grainy, a touch spicy with a light bitter zip (reminds me of rye, but probably noble hops).

Feel is excellent. Medium-bodied, with delightful carbonation, like prickly cactus dancing lightly on my tongue the whole time.

Haven't had many beers in this style. This one's a pleasant diversion from what I normally drink. Tasty; not mind-blowing, but not every beer needs to be mind-blowing.
