Pours a very deep amber, not very clear but not to hazy either, kind of right in between, half finger of tan head, ridiculously good lacing

Smell is sweet fruit, orange and pineapple come to mind first, lemon, fresh cut grass, caramel, toffee

Taste is lemon, herbal, spicy, caramel, toffee, a little grapefruit, almost a black pepper type flavor, nice pine bitterness

Mouthfeel is on the lighter side which I expected at under 6%, pretty hefty carbonation, dry and somewhat chalky after

Probably the best "Red IPA" I have had, for sure more IPA then red here. But the malt does bring a nice toffee and spice note not found in IPAs.

If you like malty reds you may want to avoid, if your a hop fan this is a really nice beer.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall Summit pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a dark brownish amber red with a lot of bubbles. Solid two fingers of off white head with decent retention. Leaves a lot of creamy lacing.

Smell: An earthy and juicy balanced aroma with hints of citrus and piney hops and sweet caramel. Citrus hops with hints of grapefruit, orange, lemon, pineapple, and tangerine. Earthy and floral hops with hints of pine resin and grass. Solid malt presence with hints of caramel, toffee, biscuit, yeast, and cracker. A pretty solid red aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a juicy and earthy hopped up Red taste with notes of citrus, pine, and caramel. Upfront citrus hops with notes of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon zest, tangerine, and pineapple. Floral and earthy hop presence with notes of pine resin and grass. Good malt backing with notes of caramel, toffee, cracker, biscuit, and yeast. A pretty nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy, crisp, smooth, and fairly drying.

Overall: A pretty solid hopped up Red Ale. Considerably more hop punch than the previous version of this Red but still has a solid caramel malt balance.

Pours a slightly hazy amber red with one finger of dense head that had good retention before settling to a thick cap. Heavy lacing is left down the glass.

Nice hop aroma. The Mosaic hops really bring this beer to life. Citrus, pine, a funky dankness all come through. Pick up some caramel and bread from the malt.

A hoppy red ale flavor. Citrus, tropical fruit, pine, and some forest floor flavor compliments the sweet caramel malt. Overall a really nice combination of flavors.

Medium body and superbly carbonated. Feels rich but still lively on the palate.

Horizon Red Ale was a good beer, this is even better. The addition of Mosaic hops brought the beer to an another level of great flavor. Too bad this is the hardest of the Summit beers to find because it is probably the best of their year-round beers.
