Poured from 12 oz. bottle into pint glass.

Appearance: Bright golden orange with a big white head that has a tint of tan. Great retention and lacing.

Smell: A nice blend of pale malt sweetness and floral hops with a bready biscuit scent.

Taste: Floral hop bitterness up front followed by sweet malt and bread. Bitterness is noticeable but mild.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and carbonated. Very smooth.

Overall: A tasty and very easy drinking pale ale. A classic here in Minnesota.

Nice golden color, little lacing. I love the smell of this one-I get a whiff of citrus, mostly grapefruit. The taste is very much the same, mostly grapefruity citrus. This is darn good beer, one to give to your macroswilling buds to get them turned onto craft beer.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a pint glass.

A nice pale amber with a one-finger head and lingering lace all down the glass.

The aroma is biscuit and citrus with a hint of dank hops.

The taste is quite nicely balanced with sweet malt followed by a hit of citrus and then a lingering bitter.

Mouthfeel seems about standard for a pale ale.

Overall, a very balanced, easy drinking and well crafted brew. Well done.

12 oz bottle. Pours a golden amber with a fluffy white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is earthy and grassy hops with a little fruitiniess.

The flavor is a little sweet fruity malts followed by a grassy bitterness. It has a bitter somewhat buttery finish. The mouthfeel is medium with some sharp carbonation.

Overall, a decent but rather pedestrian pale ale. I did like this better than their IPA - it was much better balanced.

this beer is golden with generous amounts of head and lacing.

The aroma is of grains malt with a slight citrus in the end.

The taste is light sweet with a pale malt backing. A slight citrus taste appears but it finishes dry with a slight bitterness. This is definitely a American style pale ale with a good balances of malt flavors and hops

the mouth is smooth and never harsh

A: Golden amber with a small white head.

S: Malty, hint of grass?

T: medium bodied, crisp and refreshing. nice hoppiness. Just the right amount of bitterness.

M: Good. Crisp and clean. Not too sweet, well balanced. Hops are strong adding to the bitterness.

D: Excellent. This is light refreshing APA that is worth a try.

12 oz bottle,no type of freshness dating evident. Golden copper, moderate head, carbonation and lacing. Nose is slight hoppyness. middle of the road is how this APA strikes me. moderate hoppyness, grainy, citric and also piney qualities. Medium malt base, adds up to a nicely balanced,if fairly dull brew. Crisp and pleasing, this one will do just fine, but really nothing too exciting here.

Very easy to take this beer for granted living in the Twin Cities, as it is everywhere! So, it is nice to give it a proper review.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Summit pint glass.

Appearance: Clear, pale amber with a quickly settling head and some lacing.

Smell: Citrus hops and sweet grainy malts.

Taste: Strong caramel and toasted malts flavoring for an APA. Mild sweet, fruity flavors and somewhat of a citrus hop balance. Sharp malt and somewhat bitter aftertaste.

Feel: Moderately high carbonation, with a moderate body and a mostly dry finish.

Drinkability: This is often the session beer of choice in Minnesota. I can understand why so many love it, but there is something about the malts that is a slight distraction for me. Very good brew nonetheless that is easy to keep chugging away.

Edit: I see the style has now been changed from APA to EPA. Personally, I feel it is some kind of hybrid.

A fresh bottle with an enjoy by date of 12/27/12 poured into a pint glass.

A-An aggressive pour provides a heady 3 fingers of pillowy white head that leaves some lace and has good staying power. Perfect clarity with lots of carbonation noticed, color is golden with an amber tint.

S-Bready malt with hints of hops (piney resin, citrus)

T-Slightly toasted but clean barley malt quickly overtaken with hops which taste like they smell.

M-Medium bodied with lots of carbonation with a bitter long finish.

O-Credit goes to Summit for brewing a beer in the 80s that stands up to the craft brewing boom that is all the rage today. Although not a beer that is a favorite of mine this is a well made brew with a large fan base in the Twin Cities.

Not a bad beer at all. I had this on tap at Bubba Gump's in the Mall of America, as well as at the MSP airport on the way out of town.

Pours a nice copper body with a taupe head. Smells of a significant hop presence, maybe some light fruity esters. Overall the taste was reather pleasing. Certainly not the best example of the style, but it was good nonetheless. Citrusy, hoppy spiciness with a good dose of malt. Really cold and clean finish. Just a good session beer all around, if you ask me. Another good example of the diversity and variety in the Twin Cities.

Poured into a nonic.

A - Pours a dark orange color, with a half inch of near-white head with varying sized bubbles. Good retention and some soapy looking lacing leave this one pretty the whole way down.

S - Bread crust, pine, earth.

T - Delicate grassy hops blend with bread and a faint spice I can't figure out.

M - Over carbonated, but nothing too outrageous.

O - This is a pretty drinkable beer, and I don't normally go for regular pales. Very balanced, clean, and would probably go well with some grilled eats.

Pours out a deep amber with a distinctly orangish hue. Very small off-white head that nearly instantly disappeared, though I believe I may have under-aggressively poured this one. Some small amounts of lacing down the side of the glass, but limited due to the low head generation. Smell is yeasty with some clear citrus notes. Also a very small amount of hop floral character as an understated backdrop. Pleasant, but not overwhelming. Taste is of well balanced maltiness up front, followed by distinctly bitter hop tones. The bitterness seems to also have notes of orange peel or other citrus-generated bitterness. Finishes dry and somewhat sour. Overall, a very good, very complex balance of flavors. Mouthfeel is slightly thin, and carbonation is quite high. Not quite beyond the line into over-carbonation, but definitely on the high side. This offering seems to be fairly drinkable, and would welcome the opportunity to have more. A worthy choice!
