Oatmeal Stout in bottles offers notes of hazelnut, caramel and chocolate. Sharp and sweet with a more robust finish, this uniquely different extension of our beloved brew is now available. Historically only offered on nitro draught, this dark, balanced beer will now be served in bottles offering a wonderfully different experience than on nitro draught. Still full and sweet, as the recipe has not changed, the bottled stout has a brightness to the flavor and a crispness to the finish.

Appearance: Pours a completely dark, nearly black color with a large tan head. SRM of 23. (4.00)

Aroma: Strong aromas of milk chocolate, mil roast. Smooth and creamy oat aromas. (4.00)

Flavor: Mild flavors of milk chocolate, cocoa, mild roast. (4.00)

Feel: Medium-bodied, strong carbonation. Leans dry. (4.25)

Compared to Toppling Goliath Rover Truck 2/2023: Pours similar, stronger and lighter head. Similar aromas with less roast. More chocolate, and smooth oats. Less roast and bittersweet. Better body and more smooth.

Overall: One of the better Oatmeal Stouts I've had. Summit is sometimes hit or miss, but this one was a hit. Nice milk chocolate balanced by a smooth, dry, oat flavor and mouthfeel. Balanced and nicely done. (Rating: 4.03)

I tried a pint of this beer off the nitro tapper at The Boulder Tap in Mankato, Minnesota. It poured an opaque dark with khaki head that left a nice lace. The scent had subtle semi sweet chocolate, maple, and anise notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with semi sweet chocolate malt base and vanilla and anise presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Pours a very dark brown, khaki head that fades to a cap leaving a nicely laced glass.
Nose gets some toffee, roasted malts and coffee. Taste is similar with a mildly hoppy finish. Smooth & creamy, nice oatmeal stout.

12oz bottle EB 04/03/23 into a nonic pint glass.
L: Pours darkest brown to black w a dark mahogany base, a 1/2" creamy khaki head w decent retention, no visible carbo, light even skeletal lacing & light banding.
S: Darkly roasted caramelized malts, char, coffee, light cocoa, raisins, a hint of brown bread, a suggestion of prunes with warming.
T: A gentle zing then toasted charred caramelized malts, a sensation of toffee, sweet cocoa, oats interspersed throughout, light chocolate, a hint of dark red grapes.
F: Smooth, creamy, med-bodied w a fairly fast, clean, lightly drying finish w minimal aftertaste.
O: Fresh, great tasting, EZ drinking, smooth, lighter bodied. Exceptionally accessible simplicity. It is excellent in its style.

12oz bottle. Label has enjoy by date of '08/17/21'.
Black colored body, with a significant back lit mahogany colored edge. Persistent one finger tan, tight bubble head. Back side of the glass has a sheet of lacing, while the drinking side has scattered spots.
Milky aroma of caramel and chocolate. Smooth dark roasted malts.
Taste is more roasty than suggested by the smell. Caramel and chocolate. After taste is a long slide into a expression of both mild bitterness and a touch of sweetness.
Creamy, fuller mouth feel. Good carbonation.
This is a very smooth drinking beer, and has a good balance of flavors and smells.

Similar to Guiness in appearance but not quite as dark. Delicious foamy head that lasts. Very smooth. Just the right amount of sweetness from the milk sugars, hints of chocolate. Summit's best offering in my opinion. Sadly its only available on tap.

From old, undated notes; had this on nitro draft.

Black liquid; ruby edge.

Khaki nitro head; minimal lace.

Raw oats & barley in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel; very creamy.

Smooth oat flavor; not overly tasty but far from offensive.

On tap @ Crooked Ale Pint House in Rochester, MN.

The head has lasted for about five minutes now. Dark, delicious and a great take on the oatmeal stout. Hard to find on tap, since Summit requires a potential tavern to have nitro available, but worth it if you can find it!
