On tap at the brewery. Heavy cascading action as I watch being drawn off the tap. The head is thick and creamy. The nose is mildly malty and smells almost "creamy" with some touches of smoke. The flavor is consistent with the nose. Rich and creamy mouthfeel with a slight touch of smoke flavoring. Clean finish that is very light considering all that is going on. The rich flavor and mouthfeel and the fullness of the flavors would lead me to expect more of a residual aftertaste. It stays pretty clean and the creaminess begs to be sipped again.

I was given this in a shaker pint.

Appearance- Look at that beautiful, black body! No highlights on this one whatsoever. The head is about a finger, very dense, and a light tan in color. It almost looks like a head off a nitro-tap, but I am assured it is not. And the sheet lacse is fantastic.

Smell- The head is slightly roasted, just a little bit of sweet, caramel-like malt. There is some oat in there, but it is crazy big.

Taste- The sweet quality is apparent immediately, slightly toffee and a little dark fruit. There is some roastiness and oat that follows into a decent finish. This is really good!

Mouth feel- Well, it goes down easily. However, it is just a medium body and a little watery on the tongue. I would appreciate a little more creaminess.

Overall- This is a really solid stout. It tastes great and feels pretty good. I would have this again and again.

On tap at Stub and Herb before a Gopher basketball game. Ordered with a signature burger. Great combo!!!!

First thing you notice is it's pretty much jet black. Nice off-white head with impressive lacing. Smells of roasted malts and dark chocolate with some coffee scent present. Tastes much like it smells but the smoothness is what gets me. So smooth its almost incomparable. Very creamy. Can't detect the oats as much as I would like but definitely a strong choice.

May I suggest pairing this brew with a Signature Burger (at Stub and Herb in Mpls of course), sub fries with the 10,000 Lakes dressing (great both on the burger and with the fries). A solid choice for anyone before a sporting event or just out for dinner.
