Original review 8-17-12: 12 oz bottle dated 2-July-12, best before 2-Jan-13.
A - Brilliantly clear deep red with moderate brightly colored head that falls quickly. Carbonation appears brisk. Very good lacing.
S - Medium to high german malts with some herbal character. A slight nutty note in the back of the nose on initial pour.
T - Many layers of malt. Bready, biscuity & toast notes with a very subtle background herbal hoppiness. Finish is dry.
M - Light to medium body with medium high carbonation. Slightly sticky.
O - Excellent example of the style.
Update 8-1-13: 12 oz bottled on 27-Jun-13, best before 24-Dec-13. Poured into a Falstaff mug.
A - Brilliantly clear golden amber with creamy off-white head. Carbonation appears brisk.
S - Considerable toasty toffee mixed with cherry esters. Mild alcohol in the background.
T - Malty but not sweet. Moderate cherry esters in the mid. What a beautiful ending - the toasted bread, caramel and doughy malt flavors really shine in the finish.
M - Medium body with considerable carbonation. Carbonation on the high end, but it seems to help cleanse the palate rather than bite. Less sticky than last years batch.
OI - An excellent Marzen. Somewhat ale-like fruity esters were not apparent last year, and less noble hop character. Still an outstanding example of the style.

I really like this beer. After landing in MN. This was in the fridge at the hotel. Great taste, no linger, easy to drink. Marzen style drinkers will like this beer. A little on the front end that I don't care for, but that fades pretty rapidly. Label could use an upgrade, looks like a production beer.

I find myself trying every Oktoberfest and pumpkin flavored beer I can get me hands on, this one was pretty good! I am a easy going critic as I enjoy just about every beer I've had so... saying that, I still feel there was something missing here. I wish I could place it with words but don't yet have the beer vocabulary to do so. Overall very drinkable though!
