A - yup, it's red, with coppery hues, very clear, off white head, good retention, nice lacing

S - fresh hoppy nose, herbal, clean, light fruity sweetness, biscuity malt

T - herbal hops up front, not overly assertive, biscuity malt dominates the middle, good bit of hop bitterness in the finish with some mild bitter grapefruit, but the dominant flavour in the aftertaste is "dirt"

M - medium body, med carbonation, no alcohol

D - easy to drink, but it's not going to blow anyone away

Reminds me a lot of DFH 60, except the hops are quite herbal instead of citrusy, which unfortunately I don't think works that well. Good aroma, long lasting bitterness, and a tasty malt backbone should = great, but the sum of it's parts do not add up. I think it is the horizon hops that I just don't care for.

That being said, this is the second best beer I've had from Summit, but their Porter is still miles ahead of anything else.

Rating from notes. Consumed Summer 2012. "A classic US Red Ale with a robust yet balanced hop character (citrusy), nice dryness, and oily-resiny mouthfeel."

Another good beer from this summit variety pack. Faint citrus piney smell. Mouth feel is pretty light for the style. Seems like another easy drinker. Would buy again.

A clear red ale with medium carbonation rising. About a finger of tan foamy head that settles down to a ring and leaves some moderate lacing. The aroma is malty and dank with some pine notes, too. Same goes for the flavor and a bit of citrus in the form of grapefruit. Mouthfeel is medium thick body, full carbonation and dry. Fresh, this is a nice dank single red IPA. Worth a try, very nice price for what you get.
