Canned 6/24/23.
L: Pours a hazier than expected dark gold with a big fluffy head that stays. Visibly pleasant clumps of lacing.
S: Old school west coast aromas of pine and grapefruit.
T: Grapefruit up front. A bit of malty sweetness in the middle. Finishes dry and bitter.
F: Slightly heavy mouthfeel. Good carbonation.
O: Nice appearance and aroma, but the taste is almost as malty as hoppy, and the feel is heavier than expected for the 6.4% ABV.

This one is nothing to write home about. It's definitely drinkable, but sometimes it just doesn't hit me right. This is one of the beers I liked a lot when I first tried it, but enjoyed it less and less and time went on. I like the Hazy Saga a bit more than this one. It is hard to know if this is true, but I really think I liked their original IPA better than this one.

12oz can dated best before 10/22/21 poured into a 16oz wide mouth mason jar.
L: Pours a clear honey color with a slightly off-white 1" creamy head. Good carbonation. Good head retention and lacing.
S: Citrus, grassy, earthy dank hops. Very light bread malt.
T: Citrus, pine, juniper, lemongrass, very light malt, grapefruit, some orange, lingering conifer hop resins that are rather long in nature. It is not overly sweet. Hint of metallic/grit in the long long finish. It is unobtrusive and just part of the resin.
F: A crisp hop-forward assertive start then lightly creamy/lightly danked semi-soft and medium-bodied. Drinks quite like a session ale yet it's lengthy resinous finish gives way to a fuller wide mouth feel.
O: An impressive and uniquely tasty combination of hops in Saga. Easy drinking for it's 6.4ABV and very good with spicy foods. A consistently high quality IPA from Summit Brewing. Easily on par with their flagship EPA. Brilliant!

Appearance: Pours a completely clear, bright, medium-orange color with a white, lacy head. SRM of 9-11. (3.75)
Aroma: Very mild on the aroma. Aromas of grapefruit citrus, lemon, herbs mostly. Faint kiwi, green apple, white wine, gooseberry. Light and herbal smelling. Some sour notes. Pretty simple and very mild (3.25)
Flavor: Flavors follow the nose. Light on the flavor too. More grapefruit, herbs, lemon, and in that order. Again, possibly faint kiwi, green grape, pear, with some herbal notes. A little bit of Pacific sea-water, sour saltiness. Finishes with a mildly bitter, sour & herbal finish. Slightly like a saison. (3.25)
Feel: Medium-bodied. Only okay carbonation. Leaves a flowery/grassy/herbal astringency on the palate.
Compared with Odell IPA: Similar color. More citrus and herbal/grassy aromas. Less tropical. Dryer, but with a similar bitterness. Less sweet. Less tropical and resinous. More herbal and citrusy.
Compared to Lagunitas IPA 4/1/20: Pours a much lighter color. Lighter aromas. More green grape, gooseberry, sour herbs. Less tropical and sweet. Lighter and dryer.
Compared to Bent Paddle's Bent Hop Golden IPA 9/17/20: Pours a slightly lighter color with a similar head. Milder aromas. More citrus cleanliness. Less juice including mango and orange.
Compared to Firestone Walker's Propagator Comet IPA 3/1/21: Pours a darker and clearer color. More grapefruit, herbs, and lemon flavors. Less peach, strawberry, and sweet tropical fruit.
Overall: This is a very mild and tame IPA. Leans toward white grapefruit, herbs, and lemon in that order. Nothing stands out too much besides a slight herbal or fruity sourness which provides hints of green apple. Difficult to really get anything here. It sort of reminds me of an one-timer IPA at your local backdoor brewery that hasn't worked the kinks out yet. Probably could make one as good or better in my backyard. Probably not one that I will seek out again. (Final Rating: 3.31)
Mild and light.

From old, undated notes. Poured from the bottle.
Murky rich yellow color.
Huge white head which dissipates but doesn't disappear; strong lacing.
Citrus nose; grapefruit and orange, with a hint of high grade marijuana. Inviting.
Thin mouthfeel.
Big citrus flavor, but overly bitter to me. Still, hop-heads would love this.
