Oh my! The citrus. The myriad of fruits! The perfect malt backbone! I hope I'm not being too hasty, but this is the tastiest IPA I've ever had. Will try again later just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Cheers!

This is my favorite IPA. Pours a gorgeous golden hue, and smells wonderful. The taste is very hoppy up front, with a noticeable citrus "background" taste. Definitely not for someone who doesn't like bitterness. My favorite Summit beer after the Great Northern Porter.

pours an amazing golden hazy beer. smells of tropical fruit and citrus, tastes like it smells with a balanced malt profile. This is a SOLID IPA, the Rakau hops really shine. the only thing better than this beer is the price at 6.99/6-pack. Summit really nailed this beer.

Hey....this is a good one....definitely worth a try. The beer has great hop character (pine citrus) both on the nose and taste. It poured a slightly hazy copper with white head that is leaving a lace. Mouthfeel is lighter in body with smooth carbonation. Overall.....very nice!

A very good, West Coast-style IPA from Minnesota. Lots of citrus, and the grapefruit comes through. While Summit is kinda overshadowed by Surly, this established brewery puts out a damn fine IPA in its own right.

One of my all time favorites! I've been looking forward to the chance to give this great beer a proper review. Just be warned - I am totally biased here.

Pours a clear honey-gold with a fluffy, creamy head. Lacing looks great, almost leaves a winter-evergreen landscape on the wall of the glass. Head retention is fantastic.

I give the nose on this one a perfect 5. It's bigger and better than I ask of a non-Imperial IPA - but just enough. All pine and grapefruit juice here.

Taste-wise, well, there's just something about Saga. It's one of my classics, so there's this nostalgia to it. It takes me back to backyard archery practice with my dad, gearing up bowhunting - but it can't be just me. This is such a great IPA, but it's an individual in a sea of great IPAs. Pine and grapefruit per the norm? Yeah, but it has personality. Nice and bitter on the back end of the swig.

Mouthfeel is great. It's light, maybe a little aggressive on the carbonation, but pleasantly so. Gets nice and creamy if you let your tongue bathe in it for a few moments.

A lot of people might roll their eyes at the high score I'm giving this beer. I just want to remind those people that this isn't an imperial. My word though, it could almost pass for one, and that's what makes it an extraordinary 'single' IPA. Let's not forget the price point either - talk about an affordable luxury!

Can't recommend this one enough.

Thank you garymuchow for this
12 oz can, best before 9/25/15, poured into a pint glass

A- A clear golden amber with a four finger white head

S- Floral, piney, some citrus, some wet grass, caramel malts.

T- Piney finish, floral notes, faint wet grass, light citrus upfront, all balanced by nice sweeter malt backbone.

M- Smooth, medium body.

O- A nice middle of the road IPA, tasty, worth trying. I could see myself picking this up fairly often if it was local to me.

On tap at Burger Jones into a shaker pint

A: Hazy golden amber with minimal head
S: mmmm! bready malts, dank earthy and orange citrus notes
T: Like the nose, though also some caramel malt, and some piney and spicy hops to go with what comes through in the nose...great combination! Very nice, all things considered.
M: medium carbonation, medium body, wet and sticky while finishing somewhat dry.

overall: Still remember when this first came out a few years back...never really cared for Summit's old IPA, but I was intrigued by the name and was up for something new...what a pleasant and delicious surprise. Now its an old reliable.

Enjoyed after a long night of drinking lambic and gueuze... time to change pace with an IPA. Thanks to Jeff for cracking this one. Looks like burnt gold bars as it pours out into the glass, cloggy and obscure with barely any head at all, kind of surprising for an IPA. The weak, thin white skin that blankets the beer only lasts for a minute or so before it's gone for good.

Nice aroma of honey, dank and earthy hops, a mild incision of citrus peels, and an undercut of some toasty and bready malt sweetness. There isn't quite so much going on here, but the execution is very nice... Simple, yet refined in such a way that grabs your attention with the first whiff and keeps it throughout the entirety of the brew. Not explosive, but definitely solid.

The taste follows right along, with a good bit of bitterness up front that grazes the tongue softly with hoppy leaves and grapefruit peels coming hand in hand. A few more sips reveal a more juicy and less pithy citrus character that bodes well with the leafy and borderline piney character of the hops. Very crisp malt in the finish with a good amount of balancing sweetness; toasted crackers and bread.

Medium bodied, surprisingly high carbonation for such awful head formation. It snaps on the tongue with each gulp and leaves your palate pretty dry and not as resin-y as you may think. Nothing here that's gonna blow your mind or make you run out and buy a couple cases, but the balance in this brew is really nice, and you can put it down like Aquafina as a result.
