I recently met up with Brewdlyhooked to check out the Hofbrauhaus Newport. We started out in the biergarten waiting for a table inside. I jumped on a pretzel, which was pretty good. The biggest disappointment of the night came early: there were only 2 beer choices! They only had the weisse and the regular lager. They no longer had the lite lager, maibock, or dunkel as they had when they opened 4 weeks ago. The dunkel was promised to make a return soon. The quality of the beer was fairly good, and the food was very good. The best thing about the entire visit was the atmosphere. We sat in the festhaus right in front of the polka band, which played excellent. They had a group of birthday party girls doing the chicken dance and singing John Denver's "Country Roads" of all things. It was totally cool. The band also got a nice parade together, with a line of people zig zagging between the tables. It is a great place with lots of cold beer and good fun. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

A great "German beer garden" that I frequented when visiting my friends in Cincinnati. Small number of taps, but all the typical German beer styles. The hefeweizen and the dunkel were top notch, and served in the big German glasses like you'd expect. The food is typical but delicious German fare. The service is good, and the beer girls are very friendly, and very nice to look at, ha.
