I got a 5 liter mini-keg for $10.99 so I'm not complaining too much. Good beer, not exceptional but solid. Pretty thin appearance for a fest beer - gold like a lager. Smells of caramel mostly and a bit toasty, cookie dough, malty, spicy. Tastes of vanilla, caramel, slight hops, alcohol is hardly noteceable, even though 6.3 is relatively strong. Mouthfeel is very smooth and creamy with a spiky finish. This is treating me right. I don't get any off flavors. Not the best Oktoberfest ever made, but in the class of very good beer.

A-Pours gold. Head is decently large. Leaves mild lacing. Pours mostly clear too.

S-German hops. Some skunkiness. Malt balances out the hops and the skunk. Lightly watery but there isn't much of an alcohol presence.

T-Spicy and German hoppy. Slight metallic twang along with a bit of skunk too. The negative aforementioned flavors are minimal though. Finishes malty and pretty crisp.

M-Lighter side of medium body. Alcohol masked well. Plenty of carbonation. Sessionable feel.

O/D-Pretty easy drinking Oktoberfest. Had it a bit out of date but this isn't a hop bomb so I don't think the flavor degraded much. Pretty mild; the skunk/metallic taste is off-putting but it is very minimal. Had a single, and that was enough.

Sampled from a mini-draft Keg. Not sure if that counts as a "draft" "Cask" or "Can" But anyway, here goes..

A: A slightly dirty yellow in color. Plenty thick white head on top.

S: There is a nice malty and bready smell right off the bat. Behind that there is a very sweet smell that I can’t quite put my finger on. Possibly a pancakes and syrup thing.

T: There is a toast flavor at first. There is a slight herbal note in the finish, as well as a hint of spice. The finish is more toasty malt.

M: Medium light in body, the carbonation is quite active.

O: Overall a decent beer, tasty but nothing remarkably striking about it.

The beer exits the 11.2 ounce green bottle a crystal clear golden color with a towering cap of white foam above. The aroma is mainly consists of bready notes with some husky grains mixed in. Lots of lightly toasted malt on the palate. The barley is clean and thorough. A touch of grassy hops at the end rounds it out. A fine beer, nothing outstanding, but nothing particularly to complain about either.

Served to a tulip.

Appearance: Well serves a transparent gold with a thick 1/2" white head.

Smell: Smells of dry hops, nothing that will overwhelm you though. Comes and leaves as quick as you inhale it.

Taste: Hofbrau makes up for it in this portion. "HBO" comes off extremely creamy and super and I do mean super smooth. Taste is truly impossibly to hate regardless of the occasion. It has everything to offer stickiness, texture, and believe me satisfaction.

Mouth: Medium carbonation which mat come off heavy to some drinkers but easy to swallow. Definitely designed to be a every person's beer, with flavor intact and the appearance of sweet hops.

Overall: My second favorite "Marzen", sure there are alot out there, but HB has given me a true beer with absolutely no hassles. Drinks smooth they way it should be, not debatable, and incredible taste to comfort the soul. Take it with love and cheers to all!

Yellow straw with a big head reducing to thin one after a couple minutes.

Lager malts, bread, honey and mild hops aroma. Some hints off nuts and overall sweetness.

Sweet malts to kick things off with followed by a little grain, some grassy hops and a hint of alcohol right at the very end. The finish is sticky and has a touch of bitterness.

Crisp and light bodied with a touch of bitterness and alcohol at the end although it isn't anything particularly special.

This one was a fairly enjoyable beer although it didn't exactly blow me away. It struck me as being a lot like a strong lager but no in a bad way. I enjoyed the simplicity of this one, it was a nice beer & a good introduction to the style.
