Poured from bottle into German dimple beer mug

A: Pours a rich amber-orange -- caramel like -- color with a creamy white head that
is about 3 inches wide but slowly dissipates to a cap. Some light lacing around glass. Beer is very clear and looks pleasant in the glass

S: A whiff of caramel/malt sweetness. Not much else going on, but very nice

T: A delicious, crisp, clean malt/caramel taste with a lingering bitterness on the finish.
A bit of toasty/biscuity notes. Tasty

M: Medium mouthfeel, pleasant carbonation

O: This is an excellent beer. I would definitely buy it again. In fact, I had 3 of these today :-) I can't comment on the how this fits the Maibock style -- I am familiar with
the darker bock/doppelbock styles but this is the first maibock I've had. Without knowing the style, I can just say that I enjoyed this one a lot.

Pours a fairly clear medium golden brown with a modest ivory head that lingers as a thin layer of foam.

Aroma is floral and lightly nutty, with a mineral quality. Flavor reveals more mineral and earthy hops, with a touch of toasted malt and a slightly sour note with a bitter finish. Expected much more malt character. The sour taste is offputting.

A pretty, very beery beer...lacy head goes down quickly. I pulled the 6 pack fresh from the case---as the green glass sitting in a well-lit store will skunk it up quick--no skunk aroma at all this way---BUT the Germans would not call it fresh either. All malt, no hops in the aroma--which is correct for the style.

The hops give it a clean, fresh aftertaste, cutting through the heavy caramel malts. Extremely well balanced--to be expected of German beers, something American brewers should learn--if their taste buds are not hop-burned-out already. This is NOT an IPA drinkers beer--as the flavor is all about the quality malt--with hops only as an accent. A great Spring beer--after a long hot day, looking forward to summer, this beer goes down very well-- with a mouth-feel almost like a meal, but not as meat-and-potatos as say double bock or dark ales.

Maibock is one of my favorite styles, with Einbecker Mai-Urbock my first and favorite of the genre. This one is close, but not quite as light....still a super high-quality beer, for those who know quality beer is more about malt, than hops.
