Had a pint at Brickyard Gastropub in Manhattan. I usually love the style, but wasn't impressed by this beer. It just came off like an indistinct quasi-wheat beer. There's was nothing crisp about it, it just felt flat. The malt had a little sweet wheat bread character with mild fruit, but nothing here stood out. It's not a bad beer, but nothing to bother with.

This was a great beer, I felt privileged to have it on tap at a German bar. This was a softer more flowery beer, but its doesn't let u forget that it is a beer, and a good one. Overall I really liked it and highly recommend it to anyone if they ever get the chance to try it.

Half liter on tap at Laschet's Inn in Chicago.
Served in a dimpled mug, a slightly opaque orange gold body, with a fluffy inch of foam on top. It left quite a bit of lace, and looked the part of a quality German bier. Sort of grassy and light pilsner malt aroma. Flavor had a light hop bitterness, and fairly full body, a shade under medium. Dry finish, it kept me drinking more. Hard to pin down the flavors here, a bit of German yeast gives a light apple flavor to the cracker malt component. Well carbonated and an easy quaffer. Rare to see, this is a new seasonal around these parts...

Had on tap at a German bar in Manhattan. Beautiful summer beer. It does everything in A-/B+ form. Across the board this beer tasted excellent.
Gold and opaque with a limited floral scent. Very crisp and refreshing. Definitely one of the best summer brews I've had.

Draft at GHS.
Hazy amberish blond, very frothy and heady. Lacing is persistent.
Yeasty, bready nose. Peppery, fruity, a lot of character from the yeast here. Mild stonefruit and banana, fresh herbs, crusty bread. Pretty complex.
Palate is similar to the aroma. Plenty of yeast character that contributes mild spiciness and fruit, bit of pineapple. Very bready malt backbone, mild herbal hoppiness. Finishes spicy and mildly bitter with an herbal kick. Feels a bit chewy and thick, surprisingly substantial. Pretty good stuff, not my favorite keller to date, but quite good.

On tap at The Lark, East Northport, New York.
Poured a murky dark shining straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured a moderate noble hop spice and a full graininess.
The taste was upfront earhty hops followed by a full doughy malt and finishing with a bit of sweetness.
The mouthfeel was typical of the style and a touch chewy.
Overall a very nice German treat.

A This is a nice amber color with an unfiltered wheat hazy appearance. Nice luciousl head, thick and covered the beer for the entire liter.
S This is the most bready beer that I've recently reviewed. Not sure if that is from yeast or wheat, but there isn't much else to notice here. I like it.
T A little matty sweetness, a little more hops than the normal Hofbrau Beers, but not much more.
M Feels thick, carbonation is good.
D/O I still think the Hefe Weisse is the best Hofbrau beer, but this is a nice alternate and my #2 Hofbrau beer. I'll probably be drinking this while its available when I visit the Hofbrau.

An orange, golden beer with settling head.
Smell is malty with a light wort-like twist. This means that it has some decoction smells.
Taste is malty, a pilsmalt and munichmaltiness. Hints of bread crust and this typical decoction/ Maillard taste, which is a little dextrinous and melanodoin-like. Bitterness is quite low, but the beer has a ligh hoppiness in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is a bit above average.

When I first poured this beer, I was in disagreement that this was a keller bier, but when I finished the pour, lots of sediment came out.
This beer is quite hazy after an entire pour and produces a good amount of light white head that dissipates very quickly. The body of this brew is buttery orange.
I detect fruity esters coming out strong. There is slight husky hay like aroma too.
This beer has a sour like flavor. There is a peanut brittle character.
This beer feels a little coarse and wet at the same time. There is a weird warming effect going on here too.

Served on tap at Pilsener Haus in Hoboken, NJ
A: Pours a clear pale to medium golden yellow/orange in color with some light amount of visible carbonation. The beer has a one finger tall dense fluffy head that very slowly reduces to a thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Some light aromas of bready malts with some floral and grassy hops. There is also a moderate presence of the yeast, lending a lightly fruity and peppery quality to the smell.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell for this beer, a moderate bready malt body. There are hints of the floral and grassy hops along with a fruity and spicy yeast characteristic. Light amounts of bitterness in the finish.
M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: This is a very enjoyable beer for the summer with the light and refreshing characteristics one would want on a warm evening. Very easy to drink and I could easy put down a couple of liters in a single session.

500ml bottle. 2011 edition.
It does pour a beuaty of a color. It is a light peachy golden orange with a fluffy and billowing white head that sticks nicely and leaves some good lacing.
The smell is a bit subdued, there is some yeastiness, sweet malt, and a hint of fruitiness.
The taste is subtle and light, but good. It has a bready flavor to it with some slight buttery notes and a nice bitter finish.
It is a good summer beer.

Served in a large krug at Uberstein.
The 2011 Bachelor Party Extravaganza has moved across the street for some German goodness. This bit pours a hazy orange-amber topped by a healthy finger of cream-white foam. The nose comprises banana, clove, white bread, orange zest, light caramel, light black pepper, and a touch of minerals. The taste brings in more of the same, heavy on the breadiness. The banana and orange are also stronger, kicking the spices to the very back of the bus. The body is a rather light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and an ever-so-slightly grainy feel. Overall, a tasty little summer brew, one that provides the quench of a hefe with the slightly increased heft of a larger beer. Good times.

On-tap at Gourmet Haus Staudt
A: The beer pours a pale golden straw color with a nice big white head.
S: A nice hoppiness is immediately noticeable on the nose. Lots of floral notes with mild citrus peel and a hint of grass. There is plenty of yeast along with a bread and cracker malt base.
T: There is a nice, mild sweetness to the beer with the bread and cracker notes that were present on the nose. A bit more sweetness from a mild honey flavor. Still lots of grassy, citrus peel, and floral hops.
M: The body is pretty light with a medium carbonation.
O: A beer that is excellent for a warm day. Very refreshing and easy to drink.

Funny that I did not see this beer on here yet. I had this once at Zum Schneider and today bought it in a growler at Bierkraft in Brooklyn. Golden with a frothy white head. Looks like a traidtional helles, but a bit more murky. Smells of bread and malt. Very good flavor, malts and biscuit. Ultra smooth mouthfeel. Very drinkable. I could have pints and pints of this on a hot day.

On tap at the Public House in La Jolla. Slghtly hazy in the big dimpled mug with a modest foamy mustache, but plenty of creamy sudsiness in the mouth. So bubbly with the nicest biscuity flavor. These unfiltered lagers have become my favorite German style.
A warm and rich mouthful with a malty sweetness. It can only be described as "chewy wheat." The most grainy yet elegant brew enlivened by a hoppy hint. Only faintly bitter, but somehow nicely balanced by the hoppy twang. A wonderful quaff and a very good example of the style.
